Responsibilities

  • Conduct prompt and comprehensive assessment of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
  • Perform triage, initial evaluation, stabilization, diagnosis, and treatment of emergency cases.
  • Manage medical, surgical, trauma, pediatric, and other acute emergency presentations within the scope of practice.
  • Identify and manage life-threatening conditions and initiate appropriate emergency interventions.
  • Provide timely referrals and consultations to relevant specialties.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-up and discharge instructions for patients.
  • Lead and participate in emergency resuscitation and stabilization of critically ill patients.
  • Manage cardiac arrest, respiratory emergencies, shock, sepsis, poisoning, stroke, acute coronary syndromes, and other critical conditions.
  • Perform or supervise emergency procedures as per competency and hospital protocols.
  • Participate in trauma resuscitation and coordinate multidisciplinary trauma management.
  • Ensure appropriate escalation to ICU, operating room, cath lab, or other specialized services when required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records, clinical notes, investigation requests, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, ethical standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Follow established infection prevention and patient safety protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation of consent and emergency interventions.
  • Coordinate effectively with consultants, residents, nurses, paramedics, technicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Communicate critical clinical information clearly during handovers and referrals.
  • Collaborate with specialty departments to ensure timely and appropriate patient care.
  • Participate in emergency response and hospital-wide code/emergency teams as required.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and patient-focused Attending Consultant – Emergency Medicine to provide high-quality, timely, and evidence-based medical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.

The incumbent will be responsible for the assessment, stabilization, diagnosis, treatment, and disposition of emergency patients, including critically ill and trauma patients. The role requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct prompt and comprehensive assessment of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.

Perform triage, initial evaluation, stabilization, diagnosis, and treatment of emergency cases.

Manage medical, surgical, trauma, pediatric, and other acute emergency presentations within the scope of practice.

Identify and manage life-threatening conditions and initiate appropriate emergency interventions.

3. Critical Care & Resuscitation

Lead and participate in emergency resuscitation and stabilization of critically ill patients.

Required Qualifications

Experience

Experience working in a tertiary-care or multispecialty hospital environment is preferred.

Strong clinical assessment and decision‑making skills.
