ASSISTANT VIDEO EDITOR
Job Overview
The Assistant Video Editor supports the Senior Video Editor in transforming raw footage into engaging, polished, and high-quality video content for the company’s artists and social media platforms.
The Assistant Video Editor works closely with the Senior Video Editor throughout the editing process from organizing and preparing raw footage, creating initial cuts, adding editing elements, implementing revisions, and preparing projects for review.
This role is also expected to continuously develop their editing, storytelling, and creative skills under the guidance of the Senior Video Editor and Media Team.
Key Responsibilities
Editing & Post-Production
- Assist the Senior Video Editor in editing raw footage into polished, high-quality videos.
- Organize, sync, label, and prepare raw footage and project files for editing.
- Create initial cuts, selects, and rough sequences based on the assigned story or editing direction.
- Cut and arrange scenes to support proper storytelling, pacing, and flow.
- Add subtitles, music, sound effects, graphics, and other required editing elements.
- Perform basic color correction and video enhancement.
- Assist in preparing B-roll and other supporting footage needed for the final edit.
- Implement revisions and feedback provided by the Senior Video Editor, Team Leader, or Media Director.
- Assist in preparing videos for final review, export, and posting.
Collaboration with Senior Video Editor
- Work closely with the Senior Video Editor as an editing partner throughout the production process.
- Follow the Senior Editor’s creative direction, editing style, and project requirements.
- Assist the Senior Editor in handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Communicate technical or creative issues encountered during the editing process.
- Support the Senior Editor in maintaining an organized and efficient editing workflow.
- Learn advanced editing techniques, storytelling, pacing, and creative decision-making from the Senior Video Editor.
- Take increasing ownership of editing tasks and projects as skills and performance improve.
File Management & Workflow
- Properly organize raw footage, project files, graphics, audio, and other media assets.
- Follow the department’s file naming, folder structure, and project management standards.
- Ensure project files are properly saved and backed up according to department procedures.
- Maintain an organized editing workspace to prevent missing or misplaced assets.
- Follow the established Media Department workflow from footage preparation to final review.
Creative & Technical Support
- Assist in creating visual elements that enhance the overall quality of the content.
- Utilize AI-powered tools when applicable to improve editing efficiency, workflow, and visual production.
- Assist with thumbnail creation when assigned.
- Stay updated with editing techniques, trends, tools, and platform requirements.
- Apply feedback and continuously improve editing quality and efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Video Editing
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
- Knowledge of Adobe After Effects is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI-powered tools for video editing and content enhancement.
- Basic understanding of storytelling, pacing, visual composition, and audience engagement.
- Knowledge of video formats and requirements for Facebook, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to continuously improve.
- Ability to follow editing guidelines and established department workflows.
- Ability to handle revisions and apply feedback properly.
- Good file organization and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a Senior Video Editor and other members of the Media Team.
