Job summary

Cathay Pacific invites applications for an Assistant Engineering Manager role within Engineering, Line Maintenance. The position focuses on safety, reliability and cost-effective operation across allocated station(s) in support of our global network.

You will supervise teams, manage day-to-day engineering activities, oversee third-party performance, certify aircraft maintenance and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver an exceptional travel experience for Cathay customers.

Qualifications

• Aircraft Maintenance Licence with type endorsement.
• Minimum 5 years’ aircraft engineering experience as certifying engineer.
• Solid operational and technical knowledge.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and management qualities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the shift to ensure safe, efficient operation.
• Manage day-to-day engineering operation.
• Oversee third-party supplier performance as the Operational Duty Holder.
• Supervise and certify aircraft maintenance.
• Coordinate with other operational teams to ensure reliable travel experience.
• Support development and succession planning for staff.
• Ensure safe working practices and investigations when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Line Maintenance is an operational critical section in Engineering Department that supports the Company’s brand and business by delivering a safe, reliable and cost-effective line maintenance service to Cathay Pacific Airways as well as our third party customers in the global network.

The Assistant Engineering Manager supports the Engineering Manager on overseeing the operational and commercial performance at allocated station(s) and ensuring the delivery of the safe and exceptionally reliable travel experience that supports our brand and business.

Responsible for:

• Supervise the shift to ensure the team is able to deliver a safe, efficient and effective operation
• Manage the day to day engineering operation
• Manage and oversee third party supplier performance (technical, ramp services, de-icing, refueling etc.) as the Operational Duty Holder
• Supervise and certify aircraft maintenance
• Coordinate with other operational teams to ensure delivery of a safe and exceptionally reliable travel experience to the customers
• Support the Engineering Manager on developing employees with high potential and identify learning opportunities to ensure appropriate training and development and execute succession plans
• Ensure safe working practices are applied and that all accidents are investigated and reported
• Demonstrate leadership and lead by example in accordance with Cathay’s core values

Requirements

Academic Qualifications

• Diploma in a relevant field

Knowledge, Skills, Training And Experience

• Aircraft Maintenance Licence (HKCAD or equivalent) with appropriate aircraft type endorsement
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience of aircraft engineering as certifying Engineer or equivalent
• Solid operational and technical knowledge
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated expertise, management and leadership qualities
