Job summary

Cathay Pacific Airways is seeking an Assistant Engineering Manager to supervise line maintenance operations at allocated station(s) and uphold safety and reliability standards. The role drives operational excellence, leadership, and collaboration with engineering teams and third-party suppliers.

Responsibilities include supervising shifts, managing daily engineering operations, certifying maintenance, developing staff, and ensuring safe practices while supporting Cathay’s commitment to safety

Qualifications

• Diploma in a relevant field is required.
• Aircraft Maintenance Licence (HKCAD or equivalent) with aircraft type endorsement.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as certifying engineer or equivalent.
• Solid operational and technical knowledge.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and management qualities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the shift to ensure safe, efficient, and effective operation.
• Manage day-to-day engineering operations.
• Oversee third-party supplier performance (technical, ramp services, de-icing, refueling).
• Supervise and certify aircraft maintenance.
• Coordinate with other teams to ensure safe and reliable travel experience.
• Develop employees with high potential and plan training/development.
• Ensure safe working practices and investigate accidents.
• Lead by example in line with Cathay’s core values.

Key Responsibilities

Line Maintenance is an operational critical section in Engineering Department that supports the Company’s brand and business by delivering a safe, reliable and cost-effective line maintenance service to Cathay Pacific Airways as well as our third party customers in the global network.

The Assistant Engineering Manager supports the Engineering Manager on overseeing the operational and commercial performance at allocated station(s) and ensuring the delivery of the safe and exceptionally reliable travel experience that supports our brand and business.

Responsible for:

• Item 1 of 8, Supervise the shift to ensure the team is able to deliver a safe, efficient and effective operation
• Item 2 of 8, Manage the day to day engineering operation
• Item 3 of 8, Manage and oversee third party supplier performance (technical, ramp services, de-icing, refueling etc.) as the Operational Duty Holder
• Item 4 of 8, Supervise and certify aircraft maintenance
• Item 5 of 8, Coordinate with other operational teams to ensure delivery of a safe and exceptionally reliable travel experience to the customers
• Item 6 of 8, Support the Engineering Manager on developing employees with high potential and identify learning opportunities to ensure appropriate training and development and execute succession plans
• Item 7 of 8, Ensure safe working practices are applied and that all accidents are investigated and reported
• Item 8 of 8, Demonstrate leadership and lead by example in accordance with Cathay’s core values

Requirements

Academic Qualifications

• Item 1 of 1, Diploma in a relevant field

Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

• Item 1 of 5, Aircraft Maintenance Licence (HKCAD or equivalent) with appropriate aircraft type endorsement
• Item 2 of 5, Minimum of 5 years’ experience of aircraft engineering as certifying Engineer or equivalent
• Item 3 of 5, Solid operational and technical knowledge
• Item 4 of 5, Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Item 5 of 5, Demonstrated expertise, management and leadership qualities
