Qualifications

• Valid Professional Driver's License with appropriate restriction code.
• Clean driving record with no history of major traffic violations.
• BLS or First Aid certification preferred or hospital-sponsored training.
• Physically able to lift and maneuver patient transport equipment.

Responsibilities

• Drive the ambulance safely and promptly under various traffic and weather conditions, obeying speed limits and traffic laws while utilizing sirens and emergency signals appropriately.
• Assist medical staff in loading, securing, and unloading patients using stretchers, stair chairs, or wheelchairs.
• Perform daily pre-trip inspections (fuel, oil, tire pressure, brakes, lights, and siren readiness); report mechanical issues immediately to fleet maintenance.
• Maintain clean interior conditions in the vehicle, assist in sanitizing the patient cabin between transports, and verify basic vehicle supplies are stocked.
• Select the fastest, safest transport routes using GPS or map tools; maintain detailed trip logs, including mileage, pickup/drop-off times, and destination details.

About the role

The Ambulance Driver is responsible for operating emergency medical vehicles safely and efficiently, transporting patients to and from healthcare facilities, and assisting medical personnel during transport. This role ensures vehicle readiness, adherence to traffic safety laws, and prompt response during critical medical situations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist medical staff (nurses, paramedics, or EMTs) in loading, securing, and unloading patients using stretchers, stair chairs, or wheelchairs
• Perform daily pre-trip inspections (fuel, oil, tire pressure, brakes, lights, and siren readiness); report mechanical issues immediately to fleet maintenance
• Maintain clean interior conditions in the vehicle, assist in sanitizing the patient cabin between transports, and verify basic vehicle supplies are stocked

About you

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Professional Driver's License with appropriate restriction code (or DL code for light/heavy commercial vehicles)
• Clean driving record with zero history of major traffic violations
• Strong spatial awareness, calm demeanor under pressure, and physical ability to lift and maneuver patient transport equipment
• Vocational training in automotive maintenance is a plus
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or First Aid certification preferred or willing to undergo hospital-sponsored BLS training
