Job summary

Axos Bank seeks a senior AI engineering leader to architect the next-generation AI platform, set engineering standards, and mentor senior engineers. You will own the AI engineering vision, drive responsible AI practices, and align AI initiatives with business impact across the organization.

You will establish architectural standards, guide enterprise integrations, and measure ROI while advancing AI-native development and governance across Axos Bank.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software or AI/ML engineering experience.
• 3+ years leading technical teams or shaping strategy.
• Demonstrated expertise in deploying production AI systems at scale.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead strategic AI engineering direction; set architecture standards.
• Design enterprise-scale agentic systems and integration patterns.
• Establish best practices in prompt engineering, LLM integration, and workflows; document standards.
• Lead architecture of enterprise integrations; promote reusable patterns.
• Direct implementation of MCP servers; set governance and data integration standards.
• Own AI skills strategy and plugin platform; drive adoption and quality across teams.
• Establish quality frameworks; define metrics, testing strategies, and continuous improvement.
• Drive ROI measurement and business impact analyses; communicate to executives.
• Lead cross-functional AI automation initiatives; design organizational workflows.
• Mentor and develop senior AI engineers; nurture leadership growth.
• Champion responsible AI practices; establish ethical guardrails for systems.
• Define architectural decisions; lead reviews and governance.
• Establish discovery & requirements methodology for AI-driven solutions.
• Communicate AI strategy and ROI to executives; build business cases.
