Job summary

The National University of Singapore (Duke-NUS COP/CBDS joint appointment) seeks an outstanding researcher to advance AI-enabled pathogen genomics and outbreak preparedness across South and Southeast Asia. You will lead interdisciplinary teams, build collaborations with public health agencies and international partners, and shape strategy and funding efforts.

You will design AI methods for genomic analyses, publish impactful work, and translate insights into public health practice.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in AI/ML, computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, or related field.
• Senior/leadership experience in research, grant development and mentorship.
• Demonstrated expertise in AI/data science methods for genomics or infectious diseases.

Responsibilities

• Lead applied research at the interface of AI, pathogen genomics and outbreak preparedness.
• Design, develop and evaluate AI-enabled methods for pathogen genomic analysis.
• Build collaborations with public health agencies, regional partners and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to grant proposals, research strategy and donor engagement.
• Publish high-quality scientific papers and policy briefs.
• Maintain robust, ethical, and reproducible analytical workflows with privacy considerations.
• Provide scientific leadership to research staff and trainees.
• Contribute to education and training in AI, computational genomics and outbreak analytics.
• Translate outputs into practical insights for surveillance and policy-making.
• Perform other duties as required by COP and CBDS leadership.
