Job summary

OpsArmy is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor – E-commerce to oversee month-end close, financial reporting, and inventory accounting for e-commerce and CPG businesses. You will review work of bookkeepers, identify discrepancies, and ensure GAAP-compliant statements.

This senior role requires 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience, strong QBO skills, and a proven track record in month-end close and inventory control. CPA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements, analyze variances, and deliver accurate, client-ready financial reporting packages.
• Reconcile Amazon, Shopify, and other marketplace transactions, including sales, refunds, settlement adjustments, and transaction-related charges.
• Investigate outstanding balances and discrepancies between marketplace reports, settlement records, and accounting records.
• Review inventory reconciliations, inventory adjustments, inventory valuation, 3PL records, and COGS.
• Review AP, AR, payroll, and other accounting transactions for accuracy and proper recording.
• Strengthen accounting procedures, internal controls, reconciliation processes, and month-end close workflows.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Supervisor – E-commerce to oversee month-end close, financial reporting, accounting quality control, and inventory accounting for e-commerce and consumer packaged goods (CPG) businesses.

This role is ideal for a senior accounting professional who can do more than prepare transactions. You should be able to review the work of bookkeepers and accountants, identify and correct errors, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP).

Key Responsibilities

• Manage month-end close activities, review journal entries and accruals, reconcile accounts, and maintain an accurate general ledger.

• Review the work of bookkeepers and accountants, identify errors, validate reconciliations, and ensure accounting records are accurate and properly supported.

• Prepare and review financial statements, analyze variances, and deliver accurate, client-ready financial reporting packages.

• Reconcile Amazon, Shopify, and other marketplace transactions, including sales, refunds, settlement adjustments, and transaction-related charges.

• Investigate outstanding balances and discrepancies between marketplace reports, settlement records, and accounting records.

• Strengthen accounting procedures, internal controls, reconciliation processes, and month-end close workflows.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• At least 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Supervisor, Accounting Manager, or in a similar role.

• Strong hands‑on proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

• Demonstrated experience managing month‑end close and general ledger activities.

• Experience reviewing and quality‑checking work prepared by bookkeepers or other accountants.

• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation.

• Hands‑on experience with inventory accounting, inventory reconciliation, and COGS.

• Experience supporting U.S.-based businesses or clients.

• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and reconciliation skills.

• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands‑on e‑commerce accounting experience, particularly with Amazon, Shopify, or other online marketplaces.

• Experience reconciling marketplace transactions and investigating differences between sales reports, settlement records, and accounting entries.

• Experience in CPG, wholesale, or multichannel commerce accounting.

• Familiarity with inventory systems such as Cin7, DEAR, NetSuite, or similar platforms.

• Familiarity with accounting and expense management tools such as Bill.com, Ramp, and Expensify.

• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, reconciliations, and financial analysis.

• CPA or another relevant accounting certification is an advantage but not required.

What We’re Looking For

We need a hands‑on accounting professional with strong technical knowledge and a quality‑control mindset. The ideal candidate can independently manage month‑end close, review and correct accounting work, investigate discrepancies, and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.

This is an accounting oversight and review role, not simply a bookkeeping or transaction‑processing position. Candidates must demonstrate experience reviewing other people’s accounting work, alongside strong QBO, month‑end close, and inventory/cost accounting skills.
