UST Angelicum College in the Philippines seeks a Head of Accounting to oversee the college’s financial operations, ensure GAAP compliance, and guide the accounting department’s daily activities from books to reporting.
The role emphasizes financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, audit coordination, taxation, and asset management, with a focus on accurate records, timely statements, and regulatory compliance.
The Head of Accounting performs various accounting operations and administrative functions and applies generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and methods in maintaining the financial records of the College. The role includes overall supervision of the daily operations of the accounting department, review and maintenance of the books of accounts ensuring its accuracy, reliability and timeliness, analysis of financial data, records and reports establishment of the financial position and results of operations of the Institution, ensuring tax and other regulatory compliance, development and implementation of effective systems and controls, and supervision of Purchasing and Asset Management functions.
Take charge of the overall preparation and generation of interim and annual financial statements of the Institution and ensure that monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and related supporting details are available and submitted within 10 days from cut-off date or applicable deadline
Ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness and reliability of recording of Fees and Collections from all sources by preparing and reviewing collection records and entries
Review Accounts receivable, advances and other receivables records and ensure their timely update and accuracy; recommend provision for bad debts based on existing guidelines
Review expenses, payable and disbursement vouchers and supporting documents and ensure that all expenses are valid, accurate and approved by authorized officials
Review and approve recurring entries such as amortizations, accruals, interests, loans and interest, investments, reconciliations and other journal entries and month-end closing processes
Review Fixed Assets records and all acquisitions, disposals and monthly depreciation per cost center in the books
Supervise Asset Management section and ensure that all assets are completely recorded, accounted for, adequately protected and insured
Prepare the annual budget for Accounting Department and drive the budgeting process and consolidate all budgets submitted by various departments
Monitor all expenditures and ensure that all expenses and capital expenditures are in accordance with the approved budget
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual comparative financial performance of the Institution and report actual performance vs budget
Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
At least five (5) years of progressive experience in Accounting and Finance, including supervisory or managerial-level experience.
Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, audit coordination, taxation, and accounting operations is highly preferred.
Experience in an educational institution or other complex organization is an advantage.
