Job summary

Reed Elsevier Shared Services (Philippines) Inc Company seeks an experienced accounting professional to perform general accounting activities, focusing on fixed assets, projects, and related financial reporting.

You will maintain asset records, process asset transactions, prepare capitalization reports, and post journal entries for fixed assets, projects, and lease accounting, ensuring accuracy and policy compliance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Experience with ERPs (e.g., SAP, Oracle) preferred.
• Proficient in MS Excel; strong MS Word/PowerPoint; basic MS Access/Project a plus.
• Detail-oriented, able to work under tight deadlines.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain fixed assets and project-related financial activities records.
• Prepare documentation for fixed asset additions, disposals, transfers, and adjustments.
• Process and maintain fixed asset transactions.
• Prepare capitalization reports and P&L analyses for labor, contractor, and project costs.
• Monitor projects to ensure capitalization policies.
• Prepare journal entries for fixed assets, projects, and lease accounting.
• Generate and distribute fixed asset and project accounting reports.
• Coordinate asset verification and tagging.
• Support development and implementation of fixed asset policies.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives.

Job Summary

Performs general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements, and capital expenditure schedules. Prepares, records, analyzes, and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles.

Accountabilities

• Maintain accurate records and exercise control over the company's fixed assets and project-related financial activities.
• Prepare supporting documentation for fixed asset additions, disposals, transfers, and adjustments.
• Process and maintain fixed asset transactions within the asset management system.
• Prepare and monitor schedules, lease agreements, and related accounting records for lease accounting activities.
• Prepare capitalization reports and profit and loss contra expense analyses for labor, contractor, and project-related costs.
• Monitor ongoing and newly established projects to ensure compliance with capitalization policies and thresholds.
• Analyze and investigate significant variances and fluctuations in project, fixed asset, and related profit and loss accounts.
• Prepare movement schedules for capitalized development costs and projects in progress for reporting purposes.
• Perform lease liability classification between current and non-current portions in accordance with accounting and reporting requirements.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to fixed assets, projects, and lease accounting transactions.
• Generate, review, and distribute fixed asset and project accounting reports to stakeholders.
• Maintain asset documentation, records retention, and electronic/physical asset files in compliance with company policies.
• Support the development, enhancement, and implementation of fixed asset and project accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Coordinate asset verification, inventory activities, and asset tagging to ensure accuracy of fixed asset records.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance within the Project Accounting function.
• Preparation of movement schedule for capitalized development and pre-published accounts for FCCS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related course
• Experience with ERPs (e.g. SAP, Oracle, etc);
• PC proficient – strong experience with Microsoft Excel (advanced excel skills a plus), Word, PowerPoint;
• experience with MS Access and Project a plus
• Logical thinker who constantly think of process improvements
• Good documentation skills
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced setting; able to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills
• Good interpersonal skills; and ability to work with a diverse group of people
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be independent yet a strong team player
• Ability to quickly learn and apply enterprise AI tools and technologies to support technical workflows and business objectives
