Job summary

MicroSourcing is seeking an A/V Design Engineer to provide presales technical consulting, generate functional system descriptions, CAD drawings, block flow diagrams and equipment lists for customer proposals.

The role supports the project management and technician teams throughout ongoing projects, delivering a professional experience for clients while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of AV product lines and services.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of A/V design and engineering experience.
• AVIXA CTS-D certification.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, Visio, and database software.
• Knowledge of WireCAD, Revit or BIM software preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce system wiring and architectural documentation for AV designs.
• Identify special project requirements and equipment.
• Present design reviews to internal teams and clients.
• Determine cabling and material needs for projects.
• Develop spaces such as conference rooms, executive boards, and control rooms.
• Maintain knowledge of MicroSourcing AV product lines and services.
• Research industry best practices to improve installation standards.

Primary Role Objective And Job Summary

An A/V Design Engineer role is to provide presales support by acting as a technical consultant, generating functional system descriptions, CAD drawings, block flow diagrams and equipment lists to enable generation of customer proposals. The A/V Design Engineer is also leveraged by the project management team and technician team for ongoing project support providing a professional project experience for our clients.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Produce comprehensive system wiring and architectural documentation including signal flow documents, system wiring details, architectural details, mounting details, floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, and equipment location drawings for audiovisual, videoconferencing, and broadcast designs.
• Identify special requirements for projects (e.g., test equipment, specialized tools, rigging support).
• Present design reviews with both internal staff and with clients at specific times in the design lifecycle.
• Identify all cabling and miscellaneous material needs for assigned projects.
• Create solutions for the following spaces:
  • Conference Rooms and Huddle Spaces
  • Executive Board Rooms and Executive Briefing Centers
  • Command and Control Rooms
  • Network Operation Centers
  • Training Facilities and Auditoriums
  • Video Walls and Digital signage
  • Customer Experience Centers
• Custom Audio and Video experience rooms.
• Participate in client needs analysis meetings, scheduling meetings, creative briefings, project meetings, and design review when necessary.
• Maintain sound knowledge of all Audio /Video product lines and services offered by CoitCom and our vendors.
• Research best practices and industry standards within, as well as outside the organization, to improve own installation standards.

Other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of A/V design and engineering experience.
• AVIXA CTS-D.
• Fluent working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Office, Visio and Database Programs.
• Working knowledge of WireCAD, Revit or other BIM software preferred.
• Exceptional strategic thinking and structured problem-solving skills.
• Self‑motivated, self‑starter, personable and well‑organized.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Superior customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers.
• Ability to demonstrate planning, organizing, and implementing skills which allow the successful completion of a project by a specific due date.
• Effective handling of stressful situations.
• Ability to read and effectively interpret general business documentation.
