Petrolink seeks a QA Automation Engineer with at least 5 years of hands-on test automation and 2+ years using Katalon Studio. You will own and enhance automated suites, cover web, API testing and CI/CD integration, and drive reliable automated test coverage.

The role requires independent work in a fast-paced environment and collaboration with developers and test leads. Proficiency with Git is essential; Playwright experience is a plus.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of hands on experience in test automation, including at least 2 years of practical experience with Katalon Studio. The candidate should have strong experience developing, maintaining, debugging, and enhancing automated test suites and should be comfortable working with modern automation frameworks and technologies.

The candidate will be responsible for taking ownership of existing automation suites, developing new automated tests, improving automation coverage, troubleshooting automation failures, and integrating automated test execution into CI/CD pipelines.

Strong experience with Katalon Studio, web automation, API testing, scripting, Git, and CI/CD tools is required. Experience with Playwright is an advantage. The candidate should be capable of working independently in a fast paced, time critical environment and should be able to collaborate effectively with developers, test leads, and other team members to deliver reliable and maintainable automated test coverage.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test scripts using Katalon Studio and/or Playwright
• Analyse product requirements and translate them into effective automated test scenarios and test cases.
• Take ownership of existing automation suites and understand the existing automation framework, test structure, execution profiles, and reusable components.
• Create and maintain automated regression, integration, API, and system test suites.
• Develop reusable automation components, custom keywords, and utilities to improve automation maintainability and coverage.
• Execute automated test suites locally and through CI/CD pipelines and analyse execution results.
• Investigate and troubleshoot automation failures and identify whether the issue is related to the application, automation script, test data, environment, or configuration.
• Maintain and enhance automation coverage for new product functionality and existing application features.
• Integrate and maintain automated test execution through Jenkins or other CI/CD platforms.
• Maintain automation source code using Git and follow established source control practices.
• Perform API testing and automation, including validation of request and response payloads, status codes, headers, and data.
• Collaborate closely with developers, test leads, and other team members to investigate defects and automation failures.
• Review existing automation coverage and identify opportunities to improve reliability, execution time, maintainability, and coverage.
• Participate in defect investigation, verification, and regression testing.
• Maintain automation related documentation, execution reports, and test results.
• Contribute to improvements in automation framework design, standards, and processes.

Knowledge and Competencie Essential:

• Minimum 5 years of hands on experience in software test automation.
• Minimum 2 years of practical experience with Katalon Studio
• Strong experience developing, maintaining, debugging, and enhancing automated test suites.
• Strong experience with web application automation.
• Experience handling dynamic objects, synchronization, waits, assertions, and other common automation challenges.
• Good programming or scripting experience using Groovy, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or similar languages
• Ability to understand, modify, debug, and maintain existing automation code.
• Experience designing and maintaining reusable automation frameworks and components.
• Experience with API testing and automation, including REST APIs and validation of JSON and XML responses.
• Experience with Git or other source control systems.
• Strong understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle and software testing principles.

Desirable:

• Experience with Playwright, particularly with JavaScript or TypeScript based automation.
• Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter.
• Experience working with Linux environments.
• Experience testing cloud based applications and distributed systems.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerized environments.
• Experience automating applications built using .NET, WPF, Java, or other enterprise technologies.
• Experience with real time data applications, data streaming, or event driven systems.
• Experience working with Oil and Gas industry applications.
• Experience with WITSML, ETP, or similar data exchange and communication protocols.
