DeFi Tech is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer to ensure safety, compliance, and preparedness across our UAE data center operations. The role requires 5+ years in HSE and a strong foundation in live facilities and 24/7 operations.

You will own day-to-day HSE activities, lead inspections and incident investigations, and work with operations, engineering, and contractor teams to reduce risk. Shift-based duties and rigorous adherence to UAE regulations are required.

Qualifikationen

• HSE experience in data centers or mission-critical environments.
• Experience supporting 24/7 operations, including shift handovers.
• Strong knowledge of UAE HSE and environmental compliance.
• Experience handling incidents and emergencies with clear communication.
• Knowledge of permit-to-work, electrical and mechanical hazards, LOTO.
• NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer to help keep our people, facilities, and operations safe, compliant, and prepared.

You will take ownership of day-to-day HSE activities, working closely with operations, engineering, and contractor teams to identify hazards, reduce occupational risks, and meet applicable UAE health, safety, and environmental requirements.

This role requires a strong foundation in data centers or comparable mission-critical facilities, supported by proven experience in 24/7 operations. We value someone who stays composed during incidents, exercises sound judgment under pressure, and follows issues through to resolution.

What you will own

• Safe working practices. Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and job safety reviews. Verify that permit-to-work procedures, energy isolation, contractor controls, and other precautions are understood and followed.
• HSE compliance. Maintain site procedures, compliance records, training documentation, and audit readiness against applicable UAE federal, emirate, local authority, and company requirements.
• Incident response and prevention. Support emergency response, investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions through to verified closure.
• Operational risk management. Work with technical teams to assess hazards during maintenance, commissioning, equipment changes, and simultaneous activities within operating facilities.
• People and contractor engagement. Deliver practical inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training. Challenge unsafe practices constructively and stop unsafe work when necessary.
• Health and environmental protection. Address heat stress, fatigue, noise, manual handling, chemical exposure, spill prevention, and waste management.
• Continuous improvement. Use observations, incident trends, and team feedback to improve controls, simplify procedures, and prevent recurring problems.

What you must bring

• Solid HSE experience in data centers or a comparable mission-critical environment, with a clear understanding of live facilities, critical infrastructure, and the consequences of operational failure.
• Previous experience supporting 24/7 operations is mandatory, including shift handovers, maintenance windows, emergency escalation, and coordination outside normal business hours.
• Strong working knowledge of UAE HSE and environmental compliance requirements, with the ability to translate obligations into practical site controls.
• Demonstrated experience handling incidents, emergency situations, competing priorities, and demanding workloads while maintaining clear communication and sound decisions.
• Practical knowledge of electrical and mechanical hazards, permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout, fire safety, contractor safety, and emergency preparedness.
• A relevant qualification in occupational health and safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline, supported by NEBOSH International General Certificate or an equivalent recognised HSE qualification.
• Strong English communication and reporting skills, with the confidence to engage technicians, engineers, contractors, and management.

• Large-scale power infrastructure, including medium- and high-voltage systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and battery installations.
• Dry cooling, wet cooling, and hybrid dry/wet cooling systems.
• Direct-to-chip liquid cooling and immersion liquid cooling, including associated fluid handling, leak, spill, and maintenance risks.
• ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems, auditing, or implementation.
