San Marcos Unified School District is seeking a Health Aide to provide clerical support and assist with the health needs of students, including documenting health records and handling routine care under supervision. The role supports the nurse with screenings and maintains health documentation and inventory.
The position helps refer students for medical attention as needed and ensures compliance with district health policies while contributing to a safe and healthy school environment.
The job of "Health Aide" is done for the purpose/s of providing skilled clerical support in meeting the health needs of students; documenting and maintaining student health information required by Federal/State/Local agencies; and providing appropriate care and/or referral for ill, medically fragile and/or injured students as may be required.
Skill to operate standard office equipment, use English in both written and verbal form, use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation, perform basic arithmetic calculations; communicate effectively, establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents and district staff.
Knowledge of basic first aid and health care practices and procedures, basic symptoms of communicable and other childhood related diseases.
Ability to work independently, understand and address students with special needs, understand and carry out oral and written instruction, make common sense decisions in routine and potentially critical situations. Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling/fingering, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/kneeling/crouching, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception.
Anticipated working hours: 11:30 am - 3:15 pm
Employees new to the District are allowed salary schedule placement credit for up to two (2) years of previous experience with a maximum salary schedule entry placement for step three (3).
