Job summary

Ontrac Solutions LLC. is seeking a Mid-Level GCP Cloud Platform Engineer for a fully remote, South America-based engagement.

The role focuses on building, migrating, and optimizing production infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform, collaborating with senior engineers on complex design decisions. The ideal candidate has hands-on GCP and IaC (Terraform) experience, Linux, networking, and scripting skills, and communicates effectively in English with US teammates and clients.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or DevOps.
• Hands-on GCP experience with production environments (Compute Engine, VPC, IAM, storage).
• Experience migrating from on-premises or multi-cloud into GCP.

Responsibilities

• Cloud Infrastructure Delivery: Build and manage GCP infrastructure across core services.
• Migration Execution: Lead defined workstreams migrating to GCP from on-premises or multi-cloud.
• Infrastructure as Code: Implement Terraform-based deployments with code review practices.
• Performance & Cost Optimization: Troubleshoot and improve reliability and cloud costs.

The Role

We are seeking a Mid-Level GCP Cloud Platform Engineer, based in South America, to support our client on a critical cloud infrastructure initiative. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with solid cloud migration experience who can own well-scoped workstreams and build, manage, and optimize production infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform, while working alongside senior engineers on the more complex design decisions.

The ideal candidate brings a working foundation in GCP infrastructure, cloud migrations, Linux, networking, and Infrastructure as Code, and is comfortable communicating in English with US-based teammates and client stakeholders. You will work closely with internal engineering teams and client stakeholders to support projects from initial definition through final delivery, helping ensure scalable, secure, and reliable cloud environments

Engagement

• Location: South America, fully remote. Candidates must be based in South America.
• Working Hours: Meaningful overlap with US business hours.
• Engagement Type: Contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud Infrastructure Delivery: Build and manage GCP infrastructure across core services including Compute Engine, networking, IAM, storage, and GKE.
• Migration Execution: Execute defined workstreams in migrations from on-premises or multi-cloud environments into GCP, including lift-and-shift and replatforming, following plans set with senior engineers.
• Infrastructure as Code: Implement and maintain infrastructure using Terraform, following team standards and code review practices, to deliver repeatable and production-ready deployments.
• Performance & Cost Optimization: Troubleshoot infrastructure and application performance issues and flag opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and cloud cost management.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, DevOps, and client stakeholders to ensure successful delivery across the full project lifecycle, giving clear and timely status updates in English.

What We Are Looking For

Experience

• Cloud Infrastructure / DevOps: 3-5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or DevOps.
• GCP Experience: Hands-on experience with GCP in production environments, with working knowledge of Compute Engine, VPC, IAM, and storage.
• Migration Experience: Experience contributing to cloud migrations from on-premises or multi-cloud environments into GCP.
• Ownership: Ability to own well-scoped tasks with minimal supervision in a contract or client-facing delivery environment, and to ask for help and elevate early when a problem is bigger than expected.
• Communication: Conversational English, spoken and written, sufficient to take part in daily team and client conversations.

Technical Skills

• Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience with Terraform.
• Containers & Kubernetes: Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes. GKE experience is a plus.
• Linux & Networking: Solid Linux systems knowledge and sound networking fundamentals.
• Automation & Scripting: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and scripting in Python or Bash.
• Monitoring & Optimization: Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and cloud cost optimization best practices.
• Hybrid / Multi-Cloud Exposure: Experience working across hybrid or multi-cloud environments is a plus.

Required Credentials

• GCP Certification: A relevant Google Cloud certification, such as Associate Cloud Engineer, Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, or Professional Cloud Network Engineer.
