Bet On Talent is seeking a Head of Back-end Development to lead and mentor a Go engineering team, setting clear expectations, conducting code reviews, and driving continuous improvement while owning the backend roadmap.

You will partner with the Software Architect to translate the technical vision into execution plans, design scalable services, own AWS infrastructure, and foster a culture of quality, testing, and accountability across a global, remote team.

Formación

• 7+ years backend engineering with leadership experience.
• Proven ability to mentor and grow engineers and unblock blockers.
• Strong AWS experience: EC2/ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, SQS, CloudWatch.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and high availability.
• Experience designing REST APIs and relational databases; containerised with Docker/Kubernetes.
• Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
• Excellent English communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Background in iGaming.

Your Mission

• Lead and mentor a team of Go engineers - setting clear expectations, running code reviews, and driving continuous improvement.

• Take end-to-end ownership of the backend roadmap, ensuring reliable delivery without compromising on quality.

• Partner with the Software Architect to translate the technical vision into execution-ready plans.

• Design and maintain high-performance, scalable backend services and APIs built in Go.

• Own the team's AWS infrastructure - from architecture decisions to deployment, monitoring, and cost efficiency.

• Foster a culture of accountability, clean code, and rigorous testing across the engineering team.

What You Bring

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience with strong Go expertise and a track record of leading engineering teams.

• Proven ability to manage, mentor, and grow engineers - you know how to give feedback, resolve blockers, and keep a team moving.

• Solid hands-on experience with AWS - EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, SQS, and CloudWatch.

• Deep understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and building for high availability at scale.

• Strong experience with REST API design, relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL), and containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ).

• Knowledge of observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.

• Excellent communication skills in English - you can engage equally well with engineers, architects, and non-technical stakeholders.

• Excellent AI usage skills.

• Background in iGaming.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK.

• Knowledge of PHP
