MAVI partners with US startups and SMEs, embedding accounting professionals into their finance teams. The Accounting Team Lead will run day-to-day US client accounting and lead a small team of accountants.

You will own end-to-end close cycles, review journal entries, mentor juniors, coordinate audits, and ensure US GAAP compliance, while driving process improvements and automation.

Formación

• 6+ years of accounting experience with strong US GAAP.
• Ownership of a full close cycle end to end, and ability to mentor others.
• Experience reviewing, supervising, or mentoring other accountants.
• ERP experience: NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Toast, or similar.
• Excellent English communication and ability to work with US time zone overlap.

Responsabilidades

• Run end-to-end accounting (Record-to-Report) for US clients.
• Lead a small team of accountants, assign close work, and ensure a complete close on schedule.
• Provide first-line review over journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules prepared by the team.
• Mentor and develop junior accountants, report on team progress to Controller.
• Own the month-, quarter-, and year-end close cycles with quality and timeliness.
• Prepare financial statements under US GAAP for Controller review.
• Own the balance sheet reconciliation process and drive ageing items to resolution.
• Act as day-to-day US client contact and build strong working relationships with their finance teams.
• Coordinate audit deliverables and respond to auditor queries in your areas.
• Enforce client accounting policies and build reproducible close checklists and SOPs.
• Drive process automation and workflow improvements to shorten the close.

MAVI partners with high-growth US startups and SMEs, embedding experienced accounting professionals directly within their finance teams. This is not a traditional accounting role you will run the close for US clients and lead the accountants alongside you in a fast-moving environment.

The Opportunity

As an Accounting Team Lead, you will run the day-to-day accounting operation for US clients, leading a small team of accountants and reporting to the client's Controller or finance lead.

This is a working leadership role. You will review the team's entries in the morning and prepare the difficult ones yourself in the afternoon. It suits someone ready to carry a team as well as their own work, and to be the person who fixes a broken process rather than working around it each month.

What You Will Own

• Run end-to-end accounting (Record-to-Report) for US clients on a defined close calendar
• Lead a small team of accountants assign the close work, hold the calendar, and deliver a complete close on schedule
• Provide first-line review over journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by the team
• Mentor and develop junior accountants, and give the Controller an honest read on where each person stands
• Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles, with accountability for cycle time and quality
• Prepare financial statements under US GAAP for Controller review, and answer for the numbers your team produced
• Own the balance sheet reconciliation process and drive ageing items to resolution rather than reporting them
• Act as a day-to-day US client contact, building strong working relationships with their finance team
• Coordinate audit deliverables, prepare PBC items, and respond directly to auditor queries in your areas
• Operate and enforce the client's accounting policies and controls, and flag where a control is followed in form but not in substance
• Build the close checklists and SOPs that keep the close reproducible without depending on any single individual
• Drive process automation and workflow improvements that shorten the close

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of accounting experience with strong US GAAP expertise
• Demonstrated ownership of a full close cycle end to end, rather than contribution to one part of it
• Experience reviewing, supervising, or mentoring other accountants
• Strong reconciliation discipline and the judgment to know when a balance does not look right
• Experience supporting an audit, including PBC preparation and direct auditor contact
• ERP experience (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Toast, or similar)
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets, including comfort building schedules others can follow
• CA / CPA / ACCA (or equivalent) strongly preferred
• Excellent English communication, with the ability to explain an accounting outcome to a non-accountant
• Ability to work with US time zone overlap
