Job summary

Green Umbrella Recruitment in Duqm, Oman, seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in HV/EHV substations to join a client team. The role requires deep expertise in protection schemes up to 400 kV and hands-on substation automation work.

You will work with IEC 61850, PCM600, AcSELerator, and gateway configuration, coordinating studies with ETAP or DIgSILENT PowerFactory. A minimum of five years' experience is expected; a degree in electrical engineering or power systems is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years working with HV/EHV substations (33kV–420kV+).
• Expert-level knowledge of protection philosophies and schemes for transmission voltages up to 400 kV.
• Deep proficiency in substation automation: IEC 61850 engineering and gateway configuration.
• Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, Modbus TCP/RTU).
• Familiarity with power system studies and tools such as ETAP or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Understanding of renewables plant control architectures: PPC, EMS, BESS EMS/BMS.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a closely related field.

At least 5 years working with HV/EHV substations (33kV, 66kV, 132kV, 220kV, 400kV, or above).

Expert-level knowledge of protection philosophies and schemes for transmission voltages up to 400

kV (distance, differential, overcurrent, busbar, inter-tripping).

• Deep proficiency in substation automation: IEC 61850 engineering (SCL/CID/SSD files), IED configuration tools (e.g., PCM600, AcSELerator, DIGSI), and gateway configuration.
• Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, Modbus TCP/RTU; configuration of industrial servers, gateways, and HMIs).
• Familiarity with power system studies (short-circuit, protection coordination) and tools such as ETAP or DIgSILENT PowerFactory is highly preferred.
• Understanding of renewable energy plant control architectures: PPC, EMS, reactive power controllers, and BESS Energy Management / Battery Management Systems (EMS/BMS).
