Job summary

Responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day welding activities on the shop floor, including structural welding of jackets, topsides, and decks.
• Prepare fit‑ups and joint preparation according to approved welding procedure specifications (WPS), drawings, and weld maps.
• Execute work per daily or weekly plans issued by the planning team.
• Ensure readiness of materials, welding consumables, equipment, tools, and qualified welders.
• Allocate work to welders based on skill and qualification.
• Supervise welders, fitters, and helpers and monitor manpower productivity and efficiency.
• Enforce proper discipline and execution of work at the site.
• Coordinate with QA/QC inspectors for fit‑up inspection, visual inspection, and NDT clearance.
• Rectify welding defects and monitor repair work.
• Ensure correct usage of welding consumables (electrodes, wires, gases) and proper handling of electrodes (baking & holding) and consumables storage.
• Verify that welding machines and equipment are in working condition.
• Track welding progress by monitoring joints completed, inch‑dia, and tonnage.
• Achieve production targets as per schedule and identify delays, taking corrective measures.
• Ensure adherence to HSE requirements, including hot‑work permits, fire prevention measures, and safe welding/gas cutting practices.
• Conduct toolbox talks and enforce safe work practices.
• Coordinate with the planning team (work targets and priorities), QA/QC team (inspection readiness), stores (consumables availability), and engineering (clarifications).
