Job summary

ASB Bank is seeking a Software Specialist - Testing to drive quality, reliability, and operational excellence across our technology platforms. We will look to you to design automated testing solutions for APIs, SDKs, integrations, platforms, and distributed systems, and to build reusable C# automation frameworks and tooling.

You will embed automated validation into CI/CD pipelines and help shape testing strategies and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software solutions and automation frameworks experience using C#.
• Strong hands-on testing experience for APIs, SDKs, integrations, platforms, and distributed systems.

We're looking for a Software Specialist - Testing to help drive quality, reliability, and operational excellence across our technology platforms.

Working across two squads within Modern Integration, you'll design and deliver automated testing solutions for APIs, SDKs, integrations, platforms, and distributed systems. Partnering closely with engineers and platform specialists, you'll help embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring solutions are resilient, observable, and production-ready.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll shape testing strategies, develop automation frameworks and tooling, influence engineering practices, and help drive the ongoing evolution of quality engineering across our platform ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Designing and implementing automated testing solutions across APIs, SDKs, integrations, platforms, and distributed systems.
• Developing reusable C# automation frameworks, tooling, and quality accelerators.
• Embedding automated validation into CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Defining testing strategies, quality standards, release readiness criteria, and risk-based testing approaches.
• Driving platform quality, operational readiness, and observability validation.
• Collaborating with engineers to improve developer experience, automation capability, and testing practices.
• Mentoring engineers and championing quality engineering best practices across teams.

You'll be a senior Quality Engineering professional with deep expertise in automation, platform testing, and modern software delivery practices. You'll thrive in complex engineering environments, partnering with software engineers and platform teams to build quality, reliability, and operational excellence into every stage of the development lifecycle.

To Be Successful In This Role, You'll Bring

• 5+ years' experience developing software solutions and automation frameworks using C#
• Strong hands-on experience testing APIs, SDKs, integrations, platforms, and distributed systems
• Proven experience designing and developing scalable C# automation frameworks, tooling, and quality accelerators
• Strong knowledge of GitHub, branching strategies, pull request workflows, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, and automated quality gates
• Experience defining and implementing test strategies, quality standards, risk-based testing approaches, release readiness criteria, and quality reporting
• A strong DevOps and platform engineering mindset, with a focus on automation, reliability and continuous improvement
• Practical experience with observability, including telemetry, logging, monitoring, alerting, SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, and operational readiness validation
• Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and modern engineering practices, including Kubernetes, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
• Experience working within agile, cross-functional engineering teams delivering enterprise-scale technology solutions
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions and champion quality engineering best practices
• A passion for mentoring others and growing engineering capability across teams

You’ll Stand Out If You Have

• Banking or financial services domain experience.
• Experience working on large-scale modernisation or transformation programmes, including the migration, modernisation, or evolution of legacy platforms and services.
• ISTQB certification or another relevant quality engineering qualification.
