Position: Shift Incharge/Asst Manager /Dy Manager - Electrical-SMS - EAF & Caster Maintenance

Role Overview

The incumbent will be responsible to ensure reliable operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and breakdown maintenance of Electrical systems associated with Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Ladle Furnace (LF), and Continuous Casting Machine (CCM/Caster) in the Steel Melting Shop for uninterrupted production and safe plant operation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operation & Maintenance
   • Execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of EAF, LF, and CCM electrical systems.
   • Maintain HT/LT panels, MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, drives, transformers, and power distribution systems.
   • Ensure smooth operation of furnace electrical systems, electrode regulation systems, and caster drives.
   • Attend electrical breakdowns and restore equipment within minimum downtime.
   • Monitor furnace power parameters, electrical load, and energy efficiency.
2. Equipment Handling
   • Maintenance of:
     • EAF transformers & rectifiers
     • VFDs/AC & DC drives
     • PLC & automation systems
     • Hydraulic & lubrication electrical controls
     • CCM electrical panels & mould oscillation systems
     • Cranes, compressors, pumps, blowers, and cooling water systems
   • Coordinate shutdown maintenance and annual overhauling activities.
3. Safety & Compliance
   • Ensure adherence to electrical safety standards, LOTO procedures, and plant safety practices.
   • Maintain compliance with statutory and internal maintenance standards.
   • Conduct safety inspections and toolbox talks for shift manpower.
4. Shift Management
   • Lead shift electrical maintenance activities and allocate manpower effectively.
   • Coordinate with production, mechanical maintenance, and utility departments.
   • Maintain shift logs, breakdown reports, and maintenance history records.
5. Improvement Initiatives
   • Identify recurring failures and implement RCA & CAPA.
   • Support automation upgrades and reliability improvement projects.
   • Contribute towards energy-saving and process optimization initiatives.
