Position Title

Educational Qualification

Industrial Trade Certification in Millwright Fitter

Work Experience

Minimum 8+ years relevant experience in SRM plant or similar exposure in media systems

Job Purpose

To execute all maintenance activities related to Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Lubrication systems in SMS, Hot Strip Mill (HSM), and Compact Strip Production (CSP) areas with minimum production loss, optimum equipment reliability, and effective utilization of available resources.

Principal Accountabilities

• Execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities in Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Lubrication systems.
• Ensure availability and reliability of hydraulic and lubrication systems in SMS, HSM, and CSP areas.
• Arrange tools, tackles, gauges, and fixtures required for maintenance activities.
• Assist supervisors in updating SOPs, work instructions, HIRA, and maintenance procedures.
• Minimize equipment downtime and optimize MTTR through effective troubleshooting and maintenance practices.
• Coordinate with operation and maintenance teams for smooth execution of jobs during shutdowns and running conditions.

Technical Skills

Hydraulic Systems

• Strong knowledge of hydraulic pumps, servo & proportional valves, cylinders, accumulators, motors, and hydraulic power packs (HPU).
• Experience in Hydraulic Gap Control (HGC), roll bending systems, descaling hydraulics, and servo hydraulic systems used in Hot Strip Mill/CSP.
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and P&ID drawings.
• Troubleshooting of hydraulic circuits, leakage issues, pressure fluctuations, and valve failures.
• Experience in maintenance of hydraulic piping, hose assembly, flushing, and contamination control.

Pneumatic Systems

• Maintenance of pneumatic cylinders, FRL units, actuators, compressors, solenoid valves, and pneumatic control systems.
• Troubleshooting of pneumatic circuits and air leakage issues.

Lubrication Systems

• Experience in centralized automatic lubrication systems and manual lubrication systems.
• Knowledge of lubrication grades, grease systems, oil circulation systems, filtration systems, and contamination control.
• Maintenance of lubrication pumps, coolers, filters, and dosing systems.

• Exposure to preventive and predictive maintenance practices.

Environment, Health & Safety

• Follow work permit systems and safety procedures as per plant standards.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper housekeeping after job completion.
• Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and equipment abnormalities.
• Ensure safe handling of hydraulic oils, lubricants, and pressurized systems.

Work Experience

• Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in Steel Melting Shop (SMS), Hot Strip Mill (HSM), Compact Strip Production (CSP), and Rolling Mill hydraulics & lubrication systems.
• Candidates having exposure in integrated steel plants will be preferred.
