Job summary

General Engineering Services -GENSERV in Oman is seeking a Heavy Equipment Drivetrain & Powertrain Specialist. The role focuses on advanced diagnostics, overhaul, and repair of transmissions, axles, differentials, and hub assemblies on heavy construction machinery.

A strong preference for Volvo CE powertrains and electro-hydraulic shift control knowledge. Applicants typically bring a diploma/technical certification in Mechanical/Automotive fields and at least five years of hands-on experience

Qualifications

Diploma or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive/Heavy Equipment Mechanics.
Minimum five years hands-on experience with drivetrain/transmission on heavy construction equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders).
Brand specialization with Volvo CE powertrains and diagnostic platforms is strongly preferred.
Certified Powertrain Technician or similar certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and troubleshoot powershift transmissions, automatic gearboxes, and multi-axle drivelines.
Disassemble, inspect, repair, rebuild, and reassemble drivetrain components including transmissions and torque converters.
Read and interpret complex assembly drawings and gear schematics.
Diagnose and repair electronic shift control systems and wiring interfaces.
Perform preventative maintenance like fluid flushes and backlash adjustments.
Maintain records of tolerances, parts used, and repair times.
