Job summary

A mining company in Yanqul, Oman, is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer. Responsibilities include developing geotechnical design criteria, supervising field efforts, and managing geotechnical projects. The ideal candidate has a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering or Geology, at least 7 years of relevant experience, and skills in geotechnical software. This role offers opportunities to enhance operational safety and stability in open pit mining. Candidates with a strong background in Pit Wall Stability/ Blast Design are preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of experience in open pit operations.
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety.
• Skilled in recognizing hazards and following safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop geotechnical design criteria for safe mine operations.
• Assist in the maintenance of the Gold Mine Ground Control Management Plan.
• Plan and manage geotechnical monitoring systems installation.
• Coordinate with engineers on geotechnical issues in production drilling.
• Perform critical reviews of technical reports and designs.

Skills

Knowledge in geological and/or geotechnical engineering

Expertise in modelling and numerical approaches

Proficiency in geotechnical software

Strong background in Pit Wall Stability/ Blast Design/ Pit Design

Education

B.Sc. in Mining Engineering or Geology
