Job summary

Wood is seeking a Senior Cost Estimation Engineer to join its Projects team in Sohar, Oman. You will analyze project scope, engineering documents, quantities, and material take-offs, and perform cost analysis, benchmarking, and maintain estimating databases and forecasting.

The role focuses on FEED and detail design scopes across oil & gas, refinery projects, and brownfield/greenfield opportunities, with a structured career path in a global energy leader.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in related discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in Oil and Gas with 5 years in a similar role.
• Experience in refinery projects.
• Skilled in MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review CAPEX/OPEX cost estimates (Class 5 to Class 1) for Oil & Gas projects.
• Analyze project scope, engineering documents, quantities, and material take-offs.
• Develop estimate basis, cost breakdowns, contingencies, and risk assessments.
• Perform cost analysis, benchmarking, and maintain estimating databases.
• Support tender evaluations, vendor quotations, budgeting, and cost forecasting.
• Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders on funding, estimates, and investment decisions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and mentor junior engineers.
