ENERGY OMAN is seeking a Senior Associate – Asset Management in Muscat to assess oil portfolio performance, develop business insights, and contribute to asset strategy. The role spans technical, commercial, financial and operational areas to deliver integrated views that support decision making.

You will monitor assets, support economic evaluations, identify risks and opportunities, and translate complex data into clear recommendations for management reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, preferably Petroleum or Reservoir Engineering.
  • 7–10 years of relevant upstream oil and gas experience.
  • Strong analytical, data integration, and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze oil asset performance across multiple indicators (production, costs, capex, opex, KPIs).
  • Integrate technical, operational, financial and commercial data to form a holistic asset view.
  • Support economic evaluations of projects and value creation opportunities with concise analysis.
  • Identify risks and opportunities and develop mitigations with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage multiple priorities and workstreams, balancing competing demands.
  • Review proposed projects from technical and commercial perspectives and provide recommendations.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for management reviews.
  • Prepare insights for governance forums and decision-making platforms.
  • Develop understanding of factors affecting the oil business (contracts, fiscal, regulatory).

Job description

Job Purpose

The Senior Associate – Asset Management is responsible for assessing oil portfolio performance, developing business insights, contributing to asset strategy, planning, identifying risks and opportunities. The role requires the individual to work across technical, commercial, financial and operational areas, bringing together information from different sources to develop an integrated view of asset performance. The individual is expected to proactively identify issues and opportunities, challenge assumptions where appropriate, manage multiple workstreams and provide high-quality analysis and advice to support business decisions.

The individual will be expected to progressively broaden their experience beyond their technical background and develop a strong understanding of asset strategy, economics, commercial matters, governance and stakeholder management. The role is intended to provide the experience and exposure required for the individual to take on progressively greater responsibility and develop towards a future Asset Manager role.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Monitor and analyze oil asset performance across multiple lagging and leading indicators such as production, reserves, costs, capital expenditure, operating expenditure and other operational KPIs.
  • Integrate technical, operational, financial and commercial information to develop a holistic view of asset performance.
  • Support economic evaluations of projects, investments and value creation opportunities. Prepare concise and decision-oriented analysis and recommendations.
  • Identify risks and opportunities, assess their impact and develop solutions and mitigations in collaboration with other functions.
  • Manage multiple priorities and workstreams simultaneously, balancing competing demands effectively.
  • Review and challenge proposed projects from both technical and commercial perspectives, assess key assumptions, value drivers, risks and alternatives, and provide a clear, evidence-based opinion and recommendations.
  • Translate complex technical, operational and financial data into clear and actionable insights.
  • Prepare recommendations and insights for management reviews, governance forums and other decision-making platforms.
  • Develop an understanding of the commercial, contractual, fiscal and regulatory factors affecting the oil business.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Petroleum Engineering or Reservoir Engineering.
  • 7 - 10 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably with an upstream oil and gas operator.
