Role Overview

The SAP MRO Specialist will be responsible for the design, configuration, implementation, and support of SAP Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) solutions across Aerospace & Defense business units, including Land Systems, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs / Drones), and Air Systems divisions. This role bridges technical SAP expertise with the operational needs of aerospace maintenance, ensuring compliance with stringent defense standards, regulatory mandates, and mission-readiness objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Solution Design & Implementation

• Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of SAP MRO processes within SAP S/4HANA and relevant SAP modules (PM, PP, MM, QM, PS, and WM/EWM).
• Develop and optimize MRO process flows including:
  • Fleet & asset lifecycle management
  • Preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance
  • Component repair, overhaul, and refurbishment processes
  • Rotable and serialized parts tracking
  • Maintenance scheduling and resource planning
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to align SAP solutions with operational requirements across land, drones, and air divisions.
• Ensure end-to-end integration with logistics, supply chain, procurement, production, and finance modules.

2. Compliance & Aerospace/Defense Standards

• Implement processes that ensure traceability of parts and compliance with:
  • Aerospace & defense regulatory standards (FAA, EASA, DoD, MIL-SPEC).
  • Export control (ITAR, EAR) and cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, CMMC).
• Support audit readiness by ensuring SAP MRO data structures and reports provide clear traceability of maintenance actions.
• Enforce documentation standards for work orders, technical records, and engineering changes.

3. System Integration & Data Management

• Integrate SAP MRO with engineering systems (PLM, CAD), supply chain solutions, and defense contractor platforms.
• Manage data migration of legacy MRO records into SAP, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and compliance.
• Work with IoT and drone telemetry data sources to feed predictive maintenance capabilities.
• Enable integration with digital twin and condition-based monitoring systems.

4. Continuous Improvement & Support

• Provide Level 2/3 support for SAP MRO solutions, resolving incidents, and delivering enhancements.
• Conduct system health checks, performance tuning, and preventive monitoring.
• Lead process harmonization initiatives across land, drones, and air business units.
• Train business end-users, maintenance planners, and technicians on SAP MRO functionalities.

Key Deliverables

• SAP MRO solution blueprint and process documentation.
• Configured SAP system aligned with aerospace & defense MRO requirements.
• Standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training material.
• Compliance and audit-ready reports on maintenance and asset tracking.
• Continuous improvement roadmap for SAP MRO solutions.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• 7+ years of hands‑on experience in SAP implementations, with at least 4 years in SAP MRO / EAM within aerospace & defense.
• Proven track record of delivering SAP solutions for fleet management, aircraft/drones/land system maintenance, and component overhaul.

Technical Skills

• Expertise in SAP MRO functionalities within SAP S/4HANA (and ECC if applicable).
• Strong configuration experience in SAP PM (Plant Maintenance), with integration to MM, PP, QM, and PS modules.
• Knowledge of SAP Defense & Security industry solutions (A&D industry add‑ons).
• Experience with SAP Fiori apps for maintenance execution and planning.
• Familiarity with digital twin, IoT-enabled maintenance, and predictive analytics integration.

Industry Knowledge

• In-depth understanding of Aerospace & Defense MRO processes.
• Familiarity with maintenance operations for:
  • Land systems (vehicles, armored units, ground-based assets).
  • UAVs/drones (fleet tracking, sensor-driven maintenance, mission readiness).
• Air systems (aircraft, avionics, propulsion systems).
• Knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and defense compliance requirements.

Soft Skills

• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management, including collaboration with engineers, supply chain experts, and IT specialists.
• Ability to work in high-security, compliance-driven environments.
• Strong project management and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP MRO Certification (if available) or SAP EAM certification.
• Experience with SAP PLM, SAP Digital Manufacturing, and SAP Analytics Cloud.
• Knowledge of military logistics processes and standards (NATO codification, MIL-STD).
• Security clearance eligibility for working in classified defense programs.
