Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior ML Engineer – Malware Detection to design, train, and deploy advanced malware-detection models. You will work with a large malware dataset, transformers, and AI-assisted tools, focusing on production-grade solutions in a remote-first setup.

You will collaborate with analysts and engineers to deliver measurable improvements, maintain rigorous evaluation, and optimize for performance and cost across Linux hosting environments.

Qualifications

• At least five years of production ML experience, including two years in adversarial domains (cybersecurity, fraud, spam, abuse).
• Transformer model expertise: LoRA/QLoRA or full fine-tuning beyond hosted APIs.
• Classical ML knowledge: gradient boosting, sparse features, calibration, imbalanced data handling.
• Rigorous model evaluation with leakage-free, time- and malware-family splits; offline vs production limits.
• Inference and cost optimization: measure throughput/latency, optimize for CPU/memory and cost.
• Strong Python, PyTorch, Hugging Face skills; SQL with ClickHouse or similar.
• Web tech familiarity: PHP or JavaScript; willingness to learn.
• English proficiency at B2+; strong written communication for docs and async work.
• Ownership and collaboration across teams; deliver from experimentation to production.

Responsibilities

• Design, train, fine-tune, and deploy ML models using production malware data to improve detection coverage.
• Develop models to distinguish malicious vs benign files and triage for deeper inspection.
• Build automated signature generation systems from emerging malware campaigns.
• Develop context-aware threat detection methods for phishing, webshells, and script injections.
• Improve detection precision and remediation effectiveness across large hosting fleets.
• Establish rigorous evaluation frameworks with time-based and campaign-based splits.
• Optimize inference throughput and resource usage for scalable deployment.
• Move models from experimentation to production with shadow deployments and controlled releases.
• Incorporate analyst feedback and retraining cycles into datasets and models.
• Develop reusable training pipelines, dataset tooling, and GPU-focused workflows.
• Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and infra teams; document architecture and results.
• Deliver milestones: production-data model in month 1, multiple models by month 3.
