Job description

The Process Manager is a key life-of-asset leadership role responsible for the process plant across the late execution phase, commissioning, ramp-up, and full steady-state operations of a copper and gold processing project. The role encompasses metallurgical performance, process plant operations, operational stability and continuous improvement, laboratory systems including both metallurgical laboratory and outsourced analytical laboratory services, and process plant technical governance, as well as integration with water systems, concentrate handling, and associated process infrastructure. The incumbent is a highly experienced mining industry professional capable of leading a copper-gold processing plant through late-stage project execution, commissioning, ramp-up, and into stable operations. The role requires strong background in metallurgical engineering, process plant optimization, equipment and system understanding, commissioning execution, and steady-state operations of mineral processing facilities, preferably within base metals and gold. The incumbent ensures that metallurgical and process practices are safe, technically sound, and aligned with company values, while developing technical capability within the team and delivering measurable improvements in recovery, plant stability, and cost efficiency. The role also requires strong capability to work effectively within multicultural, multidisciplinary teams and to communicate clearly across stakeholders.

Operational:
  • Lead the processing department, promoting a culture of safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide overall technical and operational leadership for the process plant across late-stage project execution, commissioning, ramp-up, and steady-state operations, ensuring continuity from construction completion to stable long-term production.
  • Ensure metallurgical performance targets are achieved and sustained, including recovery, throughput, concentrate quality, reagent consumption, and overall process stability.
  • Lead process plant operational readiness activities, ensuring all systems, procedures, operating philosophies, documentation, and training programs are fully developed, validated, and implemented prior to start-up.
  • Oversee commissioning activities, including pre-commissioning, dry and wet commissioning, and first ore processing, ensuring safe, controlled, and efficient plant start-up and ramp-up.
  • Develop and implement operating strategies, control philosophies, and standard operating procedures to ensure safe, stable, and efficient plant operations.
  • Manage the transition from project execution to operational ownership, ensuring effective handover of systems, documentation, spares, and operational responsibilities.
  • Oversee metallurgical accounting, process monitoring, and plant performance reporting to ensure accurate and reliable operational decision-making.
  • Manage metallurgical laboratory operations and outsourced analytical laboratory services, ensuring data quality, QA/QC compliance, turnaround performance, and integration into process control and optimization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on metallurgical performance, plant stability, energy efficiency, reagent optimization, and cost reduction.
  • Ensure effective integration between process operations, mining feed variability, maintenance activities, and production planning to optimize overall asset performance.
  • Act as the technical authority for process-related matters, including engineering change review, troubleshooting, and resolution of operational issues.
  • Lead and develop technical capability within the process and metallurgical team, ensuring strong operational competence and performance culture.
  • Support long-term asset performance by ensuring the plant is operated within design parameters while identifying and implementing debottlenecking and optimization opportunities.
  • Maintain strong and structured reporting of plant performance, including daily, weekly, and monthly production, metallurgical, and cost performance KPIs to support operational decision-making and management visibility.
  • Foster strong working relationships with the Mining and Maintenance departments to ensure alignment on ore supply, plant availability, maintenance planning, and overall production objectives, ensuring integrated and efficient site-wide performance.
  • Promote in-country value by actively developing, training, and mentoring local talent, ensuring progressive capability transfer and the development of a strong national workforce within the process and metallurgical teams.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
  • Ensure all metallurgical and process operations are conducted in full compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental standards, policies, and regulations.
  • Promote and embed a strong process safety culture across all operational, commissioning, and technical activities.
  • Participate in hazard studies, risk assessments, and process safety reviews (including HAZOPs), ensuring all actions are properly closed and implemented.
  • Ensure safe commissioning and start-up practices, including proper isolation, permit-to-work systems, and control of high-risk activities.
  • Ensure process plant operations comply with environmental requirements, including water balance management, tailings handling, and effluent quality control.
  • Support incident investigations related to process safety, metallurgical operations, and plant performance, ensuring root cause identification and effective corrective actions.
  • Ensure safe operating envelopes are defined, communicated, and respected across all process systems and operating conditions.
  • Foster a strong safety culture within the process and metallurgical teams, promoting proactive risk identification and continuous improvement in safety performance.
