Job summary

NES Fircroft is recruiting an On-the-Job Training (OJT) Trainer for a 12‑month assignment in Sur, Oman. The role leads and delivers a comprehensive OJT programme for LNG operations and maintenance personnel, with a focus on safe, competent plant performance.

You will plan, coordinate, and execute structured training, develop competency pathways, monitor progress, and drive continuous improvement across the training system while embedding HSE and JSA practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
• Recognised Train‑the‑Trainer and OPITO/competency assessor qualifications.
• 15+ years LNG operations/maintenance experience.
• 5+ years in senior training, competency assurance, or OJT leadership.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and deliver structured on‑the‑job training programmes for LNG operations and maintenance.
• Develop training schedules, rotations and competency pathways.
• Conduct competency gap analyses and create development plans.
• Establish Development Plans and monitor trainee progression against frameworks.
• Provide hands‑on coaching, mentoring and assessments in LNG environment.
• Embed HSE principles, JSA and risk identification in all training.
• Track attendance, performance and training records; ensure audit readiness.
• Liaise with operations, maintenance, engineering and training stakeholders.
• Produce progress reports and recommendations for trainee development.
• Support continuous improvement of training systems and materials.

Education

About the Role We are seeking an experienced On-the-Job Training (OJT) Trainer to lead and deliver a comprehensive training programme for LNG operations and maintenance personnel. This position will play a critical role in developing the competence of operations, maintenance, and supervisory personnel through structured on-site training, coaching, assessment, and skills development activities within a major LNG environment.

The successful candidate will take ownership of planning, coordinating, and delivering a structured OJT programme, ensuring trainees achieve the competencies required to support safe and efficient LNG plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and deliver structured on-the-job training programmes for operations, maintenance, and supervisory personnel.
• Develop and manage training schedules, rotational plans, and competency development pathways.
• Conduct competency gap analyses and create training plans to address identified development needs.
• Establish and maintain Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and monitor trainee progression against competency frameworks.
• Provide hands‑on coaching, mentoring, and competency assessments within an operational LNG environment.
• Promote a strong safety culture by embedding HSE principles, Risk Identification, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) practices into all training activities.
• Track attendance, performance, and training records, ensuring all documentation remains audit‑ready and compliant.
• Liaise with operations, maintenance, engineering, and training stakeholders to ensure effective programme delivery.
• Produce regular progress reports and provide recommendations to support trainee development and programme success.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to training systems, materials, and competency assurance processes.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Process/Chemical) or a related technical discipline.
• Recognised Train‑the‑Trainer, instructional design, competency assessor, or equivalent training certification.
• OPITO Assessor certification or equivalent competency assessment qualification.
• Minimum 15 years' experience within LNG Operations and/or Maintenance environments.
• At least 5 years' experience in a senior training, competency assurance, or OJT leadership role.
• Strong understanding of LNG plant operations, maintenance disciplines, and competency management systems.
• Experience supporting commissioning, start‑up, or early operational phases of large‑scale energy projects is highly desirable.
