Job summary

Makkah Hypermarkets is an expanding retail group in Oman seeking an experienced Branch Manager to oversee daily operations of a hypermarket branch. You will drive sales, manage staff, control costs, and ensure exceptional customer service, while complying with company policies and safety standards.

You will lead a diverse team across departments, monitor inventory and pricing, and coordinate with purchasing, finance, HR, and other teams to optimize performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Branch Manager or in a retail leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of retail operations, inventory management, and customer service.
• Experience managing teams and achieving sales and profitability targets.
• Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.

Responsibilities

• Manage the branch’s daily operations and ensure smooth, efficient performance.
• Achieve sales, profitability, and operational targets.
• Lead, motivate, and supervise employees across all branch departments.
• Monitor employee performance, attendance, scheduling, and training.
• Maintain high standards of customer service and resolve escalated complaints.
• Monitor stock levels, product availability, pricing, and merchandising.
• Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, finance, HR, and other departments.
• Minimize stock losses, damage, wastage, and expiry-related costs.
• Ensure accurate cash handling, daily reconciliation, and financial reporting.
• Maintain branch cleanliness, product quality, food safety, and workplace safety.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
• Review branch performance reports and implement improvements.
• Support promotional campaigns and ensure effective in-store execution.
• Conduct regular inspections of sales areas, storage facilities, and operational equipment.

Job Description

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of retail operations, inventory management, and customer service.
• Experience managing teams and achieving sales and profitability targets.
• Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple operational priorities.
• Good numerical, reporting, and analytical abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, point-of-sale systems, and retail management software.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
• Strong written and spoken English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous management experience in a hypermarket, supermarket, FMCG, or large retail environment.
• Knowledge of the Oman retail market and applicable regulations.
• Experience managing a diverse, multicultural workforce.
• Familiarity with food safety, loss prevention, and stock-control procedures.
• Demonstrated success in improving sales, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
