Job summary

Wood seeks a Liquid Hydrogen Expert to join its Projects team in Oman, delivering FEED and Detail design scopes and driving business development of liquid hydrogen opportunities. The role requires leadership across initiation, conceptual design and technology selection.

You will manage schedules, risks and stakeholder engagement, coordinating with suppliers and legal advisors to secure bankable outcomes in a long-term assignment.

Qualifications

• Chemical Engineering Degree required.
• Up-to-date technical expertise and a solid record of project execution.
• Experience with a range of gas processing technologies.
• Experience in conceptual studies, optimisation work and front end engineering design.
• Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills, ability to manage own work and the work of others, plus a strong customer focus and team-working skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to analyse logical problems and break complex tasks into manageable parts.

Responsibilities

• Lead the hydrogen infrastructure development process from initiation to conceptual design.
• Framing the Liquid Hydrogen Business Opportunity.
• Develop a Project Initiation Note with a supporting business case and define liquid hydrogen production and storage facilities.
• Develop a project portfolio framework for liquid hydrogen business.
• Conceptual design of liquid hydrogen production, storage and dispensing systems.
• Identify and select optimum technologies and design including techno-commercial assessment.
• Collaborate with others to develop and integrate liquid hydrogen production and storage tanks and transportation systems.
• Work with suppliers to identify efficient and cost-effective components.
• Design liquefaction systems for liquid hydrogen or other cryogenic systems.
• Evaluate equipment and processes to optimize performance and ensure safety and environmental compliance.
• Develop operating, measurement and control philosophies for integrated hydrogen infrastructure.
• Manage commitments, timelines and present strategies to leadership.
• Develop and design energy conservation projects.
• Conduct site inspections and stakeholder meetings.
• Engage with green hydrogen suppliers to secure supply.
• Engage with commercial and legal advisors to manage project risks.

Position is based in Oman for a long-term assignment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with others to develop and integrate liquid hydrogen production and storage tanks and transportation systems.
• Work with suppliers to identify the most efficient and cost-effective components for liquid hydrogen systems.
• Design liquefaction systems for liquid hydrogen or other cryogenic systems
• Evaluate equipment and processes to optimize performance and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
• Develop operating, measurement and control philosophies and organization for integrated hydrogen infrastructure integrating stakeholders and future plans
• Manage commitments and timelines and provide presentation and strategies to leadership team
• Manage the development and design of energy conservation projects
• Conduct site inspection, visits and meetings with stakeholders.
• Engage with green hydrogen suppliers to secure competitive supply for the project.
• Engage with commercial and legal advisors as appropriate to manage the risks of the project and overall supply chain
• Develop scope for Pre-FEED study, market analysis, and Class IV cost estimate to prepare FEED packages.
• Work with technology licensors to create ITTs for technical and commercial proposals.
• Pre-qualify vendors and evaluate bidders' proposals technically, commercially, and contractually.
• Align project plan and deliverables with co-developers.
• Engage selected vendor for engineering study and monitor progress and quality of deliverables.
• Develop bankable commercial structure and work with treasury to engage financial advisors in securing bank and ECA fundings
• Prepare needed documentation to seek required Board approvals as and when needed
