Job summary

Wood in Sohar, Oman is seeking a Lead Project Engineer to lead FEED and Detail Design scopes. You will guide phases of the project, ensuring safe, high-quality delivery and effective stakeholder engagement across multi-disciplinary teams.

The role emphasizes staff development, mentoring, and hands-on leadership in onshore oil and gas projects, with a focus on delivering technical requirements and project success.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Experience leading FEED/EPC projects as Lead Project Engineer.
• Experience in refinery projects and multi-cultural teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the phases of the project including technical detailed design and delivery of requirements.
• Ensure safety and quality control procedures during execution.
• Lead pre/post contract discussions with Asset Owners to define user requirements.
• Follow up project deliverables and participate in project reviews.
• Resolve project execution challenges identified during development.
• Supervise site visits to verify progress.
• Guide junior engineers in related matters.
• Perform other related works.

Wood is recruiting for a Lead Project Engineer to join its Projects team focusing on delivering across FEED and Detail design scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible to lead the phases of the project and to bring out the best strategies and approaches to deliver the technical requirements.

Position is based in Sohar, Oman

Typical responsibilities

• Lead the phases of the project including technical detailed design scope and endeavour to bring out the best strategies and approaches to deliver the technical requirements.
• Ensure Safety and Quality control procedures are followed during the execution of all work and that a high standard of safety is achieved in all design work
• Lead and participate in the pre and post contract award in discussions with Asset Owners to assess and assist in the definition of user requirements.
• Follow up project deliverables and participate in project reviews.
• Solve Project execution challenges that are recognized during the development of the project
• Conduct or supervise site for accuracy of project progress.
• Guide young engineers in related matters
• Other related works

Experience

• Minimum qualification is degree in Engineering
• Minimum 15 FEED/EPC project as Lead Project engineer
• Experience in Refinery projects.
• Have staff development and mentoring capabilities.
• Skills with handling of vendor documents.
• Skilled in MS Office applications.
• Good English language understanding and writing as well as communication and computer applications.
• Good people skills and capacity to work in multi-cultural organizations.
• Minimum 2 FEED/EPC project
