Job summary

Goodman Masson is partnering with a new financial markets infrastructure venture in Oman to build a greenfield platform. The Lead Database Administrator will own the data layer, ensuring integrity, availability and recoverability of the registry and transaction history.

Based in Muscat, the role covers design, build-out, run operations, and leading the database team. Expatriates on a two-year contract; Oman nationals encouraged to apply. Fluent English required.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science or related discipline.
• 6–10 years in database administration, preferably in large financial institutions.
• Expertise across Oracle and SQL Server; PostgreSQL and MySQL also relevant.
• Experience with backup/recovery, high availability, replication, and clustering.
• Strong SQL tuning and performance optimization.
• Database security, access control, patching and compliance.
• Linux and Windows administration; scripting with PowerShell, Bash or Python.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Design the database architecture for a greenfield platform.
• Install, configure, and operate enterprise databases; own build standards.
• Own HA and DR for the authoritative data estate and validate failovers.
• Monitor performance, tune SQL, and plan capacity across lifecycle.
• Ensure database security and runbook-driven operations.
• Design run-phase operating model and lead the database team.
