Job summary

Galfar Engg. & Contracting SAOG in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman invites applications for a Land Surveyor. The role requires a Diploma in Civil Engineering or Land Surveying with 5-7 years of infrastructure surveying experience, using Total Station, GNSS/GPS, and levelling instruments.

The position is full-time and based in Muscat. The candidate will perform initial surveys, establish control points, collect topographic data, and support engineers and project managers with accurate site information.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or Land Surveying required.
• 5-7 years of land survey experience on infrastructure projects, using total station, GNSS/GPS and levelling instruments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out initial surveys and impact assessments on potential sites to assess work feasibility.
• Measure and install control points for survey; establish benchmarks; set out using total station/GNSS and levelling instruments.
• Collect topography data to map land shapes for civil engineering/ construction projects and provide data to engineers and project managers.
• Study approved drawings from the draughtsman and prepare grade sheets.
• Set out road alignment and levels; capture OGL and topographic data; set out embankment layers and drainage levels.
• Measure, assess and set out duct routes (Ducts, IRR ducts, SL ducts, landscaping ducts) with level references.
• Set out electrical and telephone cables and project features (bridges, culverts, walls) and monitor progress.

Job Description

• Carrying out initial surveys and impact assessments on potential sites to assess whether plans are workable
• Measure and install control points for survey, establish bench marks; make the setting as per total stations/GPS, obtain data needed for surveys ensuring the correctness at suitable locations for completion of work on timely basis
• Collect topography data to map the shape of land for civil engineering and construction projects and use this data as the basis of site plans ensuring to give all technical information to Engineers and Project Managers .
• Study the approved drawing received from the Draughtsman and prepare grade sheets.
• Responsible for setting out of road alignment and level, take OGL and topographic data, set out embankment layer and take level and responsible for setting out storm water drainage line level
• Measure, assess and responsible for duct set out level (feature ducts, IRR ducts, SL ducts, Landscaping ducts, etc.), safety barrio set out with level and water line 300 and 400 dia relocated set out with level
• Measure and assess and set out Electrical and Telephone cables relocated set out with level. Setting out of Bridges, Culvert, Retaining wall, Cut of wall, and measure the progress levels.
