Job summary

Dr Sulaiman AlHabib Medical Centers is seeking a CSSD Technician to handle routine sterilization tasks in line with JCIA/CBAHI standards. You will decontaminate, label, and supply sterilized items, operate sterilizers, and maintain asepsis throughout processing.

Mentorship and training will be part of the role. The candidate should hold a Diploma in Sterilization with at least 2 years in CSSD and a Saudi Council License; familiarity with ultrasonic cleaners, washer-disinfectors, and steam

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent in Sterilization.
• 2 years of experience in CSSD.
• Saudi Council License.
• Knowledge of JCIA/CBAHI Standards.
• Strong infection control and asepsis practices.

Responsibilities

• Receives all used contaminated items from different assigned areas.
• Decontaminate the received items manually and mechanically by using ultrasonic cleaner/ automated cart washers.
• Label the prepared package using proper labeling technique.
• Load and unload sterilizers properly.
• Adhere to infection control requirements by using PPE.
• Assemble and packing instrument-sets using proper packaging material and technique.
• Demonstrate an understanding and awareness of asepsis principles in all stages of processing.
• Store the sterilized sets/ items properly until needed.
• Perform disinfecting process as needed and as per the policy and procedure.
• Transport and delivering the sterile packages to the units in proper way.
• Perform the daily testing of sterilizer (warm-up cycle, Bowie and Dick test, Spore test and leak test.)
• Mentor and precepting the new staff.
• Participates in conducting education and training sessions.

Job Purpose / Objective

Responsible for routine and basic technical tasks in CSSD with strict adherence to JCIA/ CBAHI Standards including documentation, sterilization, packaging, storage and distribution of sterile items as well as receiving all contaminated used items from the assigned areas.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

• Receives all used contaminated items from different assigned areas.
• Decontaminate the received items manually and mechanically by using ultrasonic cleaner/ automated cart washers.
• Label the prepared package using proper labeling technique.
• Load and unloading sterilizers properly.
• Adhere to infection control requirements by using PPE.
• Assemble and packing instrument-sets using proper packaging material and technique.
• Demonstrate an understanding and awareness of asepsis principles in all stages of processing.
• Store the sterilized sets/ items properly until needed.
• Demonstrate an understanding of quality control by using chemical indicator.
• Perform disinfecting process as needed and as per the policy and procedure.
• Transport and delivering the sterile packages to the units in proper way.
• Perform the daily testing of sterilizer (warm-up cycle, Bowie and Dick test, Spore test and leak test.)
• Perform all delegated tasks assigned by the Supervisor with scope of competency.
• Mentor and precepting the new staff.
• Participates in conducting education and training sessions.
• Acts up for CSSD Supervisor during absence.
• Assist Supervisor in evaluating and monitoring staff performance.
• Demonstrate ability to handle and operate the following machine/ equipment:
  • Ultrasonic Machine
  • I. Incubator
  • Washer Disinfector
  • Sealing Device
  • Steam Sterilizer
• Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
• Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
• Perform other applicable task and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

Requirements

Education/ Professional Qualification

• Diploma or equivalent in Sterilization

Experience

• 2 years working experience in same specialty

Professional Licensing / Certification / Training

• Saudi Council License
