Job summary

Acwa Power, located in Oman, seeks an experienced Plant Operator to monitor and control unit/plant operating parameters and coordinate with other operators.

You will follow safety rules, keep logs, perform protection tests, coordinate LOTO during maintenance, inspect equipment, report anomalies, and assist in training new staff.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering is a must.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the same position.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control unit/plant operating parameters and coordinate with other operators regarding all related activities.
• Comply with safety rules and regulations and be familiar with firefighting equipment in the assigned area.
• Be familiar with plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, operation and control logic, emergency operating procedures, and other related documents.
• Monitor all unit parameters and record periodic readings on log sheets; summarize activities and events during the shift.
• Follow the instructions of the Shift Charge Engineer and Shift Supervisor and coordinate with other operators.
• Remain alert and take prompt action during abnormal operating conditions.
• Coordinate Lock Out & Tag Out during equipment isolation for maintenance; normalize equipment after cancellation.
• Inspect the unit and auxiliaries during the shift and report abnormalities.
• Perform periodic protection tests and maintenance records; perform equipment changeovers as scheduled.
• Raise work requests or defect notifications and follow up on defect rectification.
• Assist in training and familiarization of new operators.
• Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls.
• Report deviations related to QHSE management system.
• Ensure proper waste disposal measures are followed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Monitor and control unit/plant operating parameters and coordinate with other operators regarding all related activities that affect plant operations.

• Comply with safety rules and regulations and be familiar with firefighting equipment in the assigned area.
• Be familiar with plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, operation and control logic, emergency operating procedures, and other related documents.
• Monitor all unit parameters and record periodic readings on log sheets. Summarize all activities and events that occur during the shift in the logbook.
• Follow the instructions of the Shift Charge Engineer and Shift Supervisor and coordinate with other operators regarding all operational activities.
• Remain alert and take prompt action during abnormal operating conditions.
• Coordinate and ensure Lock Out & Tag Out (LOTO) during equipment isolation for maintenance in accordance with the approved Permit to Work (PTW) procedure. Normalize equipment after cancellation when instructed.
• Inspect the unit and auxiliaries during the shift to ensure all equipment parameters remain within acceptable limits. Report any abnormalities to the Shift Supervisor / Shift Charge Engineer.
• Perform periodic protection tests under the supervision of the Shift Charge Engineer / Supervisor and maintain the required records. Perform equipment changeovers according to established schedules.
• Raise work requests or defect notifications for faulty equipment and follow up on defect rectification.
• Assist in the training and familiarization of new operators.
• Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls.
• Report deviations related to the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Management System.
• Ensure proper waste disposal measures are followed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

Educational

• Diploma in Engineering is a must.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Minimum

• 5 years of experience in the same position.
