Job summary

SGS Oman invites applications for a Construction General Manager – Oil & Gas to lead all construction activities from planning through commissioning and project handover. You will direct contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site teams to ensure safe, timely delivery.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with 12+ years in large-scale construction or EPC projects, and demonstrates exceptional leadership, risk management, and HSE oversight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in construction, industrial, infrastructure, energy, or EPC projects.
• Proven experience managing large-scale construction projects from planning through commissioning and handover.
• Strong background in contractor management, project execution, construction planning, and site leadership.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Desirable: TA-2 certification and purchasing/supply credentials.

Description

Lead and manage all construction activities from planning through commissioning and project handover. Develop construction execution strategies, schedules, budgets, and resource plans. Direct and coordinate contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and construction teams. Provide construction input during engineering, procurement, and project planning phases. Oversee site construction, installation, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities. Ensure compliance with HSE regulations, quality requirements, and industry best practices. Monitor project progress against schedule, budget, and performance targets. Identify project risks and implement mitigation measures to ensure successful delivery. Manage construction interfaces between engineering, procurement, logistics, and project teams. Supervise offsite fabrication, transportation, and installation activities where applicable. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure construction quality and progress. Review contractor performance and ensure contractual obligations are achieved. Lead constructability reviews, construction readiness assessments, and project execution reviews. Provide regular project reports, updates, and presentations to senior management and stakeholders. Build and lead high-performing teams while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent. Desired Qualifications: Technical Authority Level 2 (TA-2) Advanced degree or qualification in construction management is highly desirable. Professional Certification in purchasing / supply from world recognised associations is desirable.
