Job summary

Worley is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to lead supervision of battery energy storage system installations in Oman. The role involves integration, commissioning, BMS verification, and safety system checks, with emphasis on IPP/PPA contexts and large-scale renewable projects in the GCC.

Ideal candidates bring extensive BESS testing knowledge, grid interconnection experience and prior Owner’s Engineer roles on multi-hundred MW renewables, including 132 kV+ interconnections and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 8+ years in battery energy storage system design, integration and commissioning.
• Experience as Owner’s Engineer or equivalent Lender’s Technical Adviser on at least three utility-scale renewable energy projects (Wind and/or Solar PV, each ≥100 MW).
• Familiarity with IEC 62933-2-1 BESS testing standards and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervision of BESS installation, integration and commissioning, including BMS and fire/thermal safety systems verification.
• Witness BESS Performance Test (Power Rating, Energy Capacity, Round-Trip Efficiency) and support Plant Reliability Run verification.
• Design review or construction supervision on grid substations and transmission interconnection works (132 kV+).
• Experience with IPP structures under PPA and familiarity with testing, commissioning and performance guarantees.

Core Responsibilities:

• Supervision of BESS installation, integration and commissioning, including battery

management system (BMS) and fire/thermal safety systems verification;

• Witness BESS Performance Test (Power Rating, Energy Capacity, Round-Trip Efficiency) and

support Plant Reliability Run verification.

Other requirements

• Owner’s Engineer or equivalent Lender’s Technical Adviser experience on at least three (3)

utility-scale renewable energy projects (Wind and/or Solar PV, each of at least 100 MW

capacity) that have reached Commercial Operation Date within the last ten (10) years;

·Owner’s Engineer experience on at least one (1) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

project of at least 100 MWh capacity, including commissioning and performance testing

oversight;

• Experience working on Independent Power Projects (IPPs) structured under a Power Purchase

Agreement (PPA) with a national or regional Off-taker, including familiarity with PPA testing,

commissioning and performance guarantee regimes;

• Design review or construction supervision experience on grid substation and transmission

interconnection works (132 kV or above), including interfacing with a national/regional

transmission system operator .

• Demonstrated regional experience in the Sultanate of Oman and/or the wider GCC is preferred,

including familiarity with the Oman Local regulation and Grid Code requirements

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; minimum 8 years’ experience in Battery Energy

Storage System design, integration and commissioning;

• Familiarity with IEC 62933-2-1 BESS performance testing standards and BESS safety
