Senior BESS Engineer – Owner's Engineer, Oman

Job summary

Tractebel in Oman is seeking a BESS Engineer to provide technical review, site supervision, integration support, commissioning oversight, and performance verification as part of an Owner’s Engineer assignment.

Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 8 years in battery energy storage, electrical infrastructure, and renewable energy integration. Familiarity with BMS/EMS/PCS and IEC 62933 is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in battery energy storage systems, electrical infrastructure, renewable energy integration, or power generation projects.
• Experience in BESS design review, installation supervision, integration, testing, commissioning, and performance verification.
• Knowledge of BMS, PCS, EMS, thermal management, fire safety systems, and BESS performance testing requirements.
• Familiarity with IEC 62933 or equivalent BESS standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review BESS design deliverables, technical specifications, drawings, method statements, inspection plans, safety requirements, and commissioning procedures.
• Supervise BESS installation, integration, electrical connection, battery management system interfaces, thermal management, and fire protection/safety systems.
• Monitor BESS construction quality, installation progress, technical compliance, and interface requirements with PV, wind, grid, civil, electrical, and commissioning teams.
• Witness inspections, pre-commissioning, commissioning, reliability runs, power rating tests, energy capacity tests, and round-trip efficiency tests.
• Review BESS performance data, test records, punch lists, safety issues, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
• Support technical reporting, risk reviews, commissioning meetings, and close-out documentation.
