Job summary

Real is seeking a savvy and energised youth worker to join our growing service in New Plymouth. You will be reporting to the Team Coach and work in a team of Youth Workers. Young people will stay in our home-like retreat for short periods while supported by trained youth mental health and addiction workers.

This is a fixed-term position ending January 2027. You will be working full-time, Monday-Friday, 3pm–11:30pm, based in New Plymouth.

Qualifications

• National Certificate in Mental Health and Addiction Support Work (Level 4) or National Certificate in Youth Work
• Understanding trauma-informed care when supporting young people
• Full NZ driver’s licence and ability to drive
• Good IT skills, Microsoft Office familiarity
• Current NZ first aid certificate or willingness to obtain one
• Experience in youth work, social work, mental health or addiction preferred

Responsibilities

• Support taiohi in a home-like retreat, assisting with daily living tasks, meal prep and wrap-around care
• Work under the Team Coach and in a youth work team to support wellbeing
• Help young people build confidence, resilience and wellbeing during engagement

About You | Mōu:

• An understanding of Information Technology - Microsoft Office preferred.
• A current New Zealand first aid certificate or be prepared to obtain one.
• Previous experience in youth work, social work, mental health, and addiction preferred.
