Omarama School, a small rural NZ kura tuatahi, is seeking a certificated teacher for Years 1–8. The role is part-time (0.5–0.8 FTTE) with a job-share arrangement alongside the teaching Principal. Applications are welcome from experienced and beginning teachers.

Omarama School is a small rural U1 school with a roll of approximately 34 students. We currently operate two classes: Years 1–4 and Years 5–8. This is a job-share position with the teaching Principal, offering flexibility of 2½, 3 or 4 days per week , depending on the applicant’s availability and suitability. Applications are welcomed from both experienced and beginning teachers.

We have a strong and supportive Board, an excellent Friends of School fundraising team, engaged parents and positive connections throughout our wider community. Omarama is centrally located, approximately 1 hour 20 minutes from Oamaru and Cromwell, 2 hours 15 minutes from Queenstown, 2 hours 40 minutes from Dunedin and 3 hours 50 minutes from Christchurch — rural living with easy access to everywhere.

Strengths and experience in the iDeal structured literacy platform, DMIC and Te Ao Māori would be an advantage. We welcome new ideas and proactive initiatives that will continue to enhance our rural school environment.

Teaching Bonding Scheme

This position is eligible for the Teaching Bonding Scheme, with eligible teachers able to receive annual payments accumulating to a maximum of $40,000 before tax over five years, prorated according to FTTE.
