Job summary

PlaceMakers Gisborne is hiring for a Yard & Drive Thru position. You will help trade customers locate and load building products, move stock, and keep the yard safe and running smoothly.

This casual role covers days Monday–Saturday, based at our Gisborne Branch. Previous warehousing or customer service experience is helpful; forklift licence is preferred, and training is provided where needed.

• Experience in customer service or manual handling is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with locating and loading building products.
• Safely load/unload trucks and secure products.
• Record product movements using yard systems and support order processing.
• Restock, pick orders, and maintain stock levels.

We’re looking for a customer-focused team player to join our Yard & Drive Thru team at PlaceMakers Gisborne. In this hands-on role, you’ll help our trade customers find and load building products, assist with stock movement, and ensure our yard is safe, tidy, and running smoothly.

You’ll be part of a supportive team that values safety, great service, and a can-do attitude. Whether you’re experienced in warehousing or just starting out, we’ll provide the training and support to help you succeed.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Assisting customers with locating and loading building products
• Safely loading/unloading trucks and securing product
• Using yard systems to record product movements and support order processing
• Re-stocking, picking orders, and maintaining stock levels
• Keeping the yard clean, safe, and well-organised
• Supporting continuous improvement and safety initiatives

This is a casual role, working days across Monday – Saturdays. Based at our Gisborne Branch.

About You

You’re practical, reliable, and enjoy working outdoors in a fast-paced environment. You take pride in helping customers and working as part of a team. If you’ve got a forklift licence and some experience in customer service or manual handling — great! If not, we’ll help you get there.

We’re looking for someone with:

• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Yard or Construction experience – ideal but not essential
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain one)
• Basic building product knowledge (advantageous)
• Ability to follow direction and take initiative
• Commitment to safety and teamwork
