Job summary

KANDENKO CO LTD invites applications for a Safety Officer on our LTA project sites in Otago, Queenstown, New Zealand. You will implement and enforce workplace safety and health policies, and lead regular site inspections.

You must hold a Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health, be registered as a WSHO, and have at least three years of relevant experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to coordinate with project managers, workers, and external authorities.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health or equivalent.
• Registered WSHO with MOM.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in LTA project.
• Good communication and interpersonal skill.

Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce workplace safety and health (WSH) policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Monitor workers’ adherence to safe work practices and use of PPE.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct safety briefings, toolbox meetings, and training sessions.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations (e.g., MOM, WSH Act, relevant codes of practice).
• Liaise with project managers, supervisors, and external authorities on safety matters.
• Maintain proper documentation of safety records, reports, and permits.
• Review risk assessments (RA) and safe work procedures (SWP).
• Assist in emergency response planning and drills.
