Job summary

Ritchies Transport Holdings Ltd. is seeking an experienced Workshop Mechanic to join the Leabourne crew on a permanent basis.

You will maintain a diverse fleet, perform COF inspections, and carry out repairs as needed across multiple vehicle brands, withEV experience viewed positively as the fleet decarbonises for a sustainable future. You will work in a safety-focused environment, collaborating with a team while meeting regulatory standards and quality expectations.

Qualifications

• NZQA L4 Heavy Automotive Qualification/ equivalent required.
• Current New Zealand Drivers’ License Class 1 (ideally up to Class 4).
• Eye for detail and accuracy in repairs and inspections.
• Health and safety-conscious mindset and adherence to procedures.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 25kg.
• Tech savvy with diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform proactive and reactive maintenance across the fleet.
• Conduct COF inspections and day-to-day repairs.
• Experience with various vehicle brands; familiarity with buses a plus.
• Assist with maintenance planning and ensure compliance with Waka Kotahi regulations.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Workshop Mechanic to join our Leabourne crew on a permanent basis. Working on a variety of vehicle brands, this role involves proactive and reactive maintenance, COF inspections, and day-to-day repairs across our fleet. Experience with electric vehicles will be a bonus as we transition toward a more sustainable future.

You take pride in your work, you’re a team player and you don’t hesitate to ‘go the extra mile’ to get tasks completed in a timely manner. You follow instructions and do the right thing. You’re comfortable working by yourself and have a strong level of written and spoken English. You’re capable of servicing and doing repairs as well as detecting and diagnosing faults. You know what the expectation is with Waka Kotahi and follow regulations. You have an interest in working on buses!

Your Skills
