Job summary

The Indian Restaurant Limited in Auckland is seeking two cooks to prepare authentic Indian dishes to restaurant standards. You will work 30–35 hours per week with a roster that may include weekends, and benefit from a supportive kitchen team.

Experience in Indian cuisine is required, with a NZ Level 4 cookery qualification or equivalent. You must be flexible to work evenings and weekends as part of a busy dining schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Indian cuisine.
• NZ qualification Level 4 in cookery or equivalent required.
• Ability to work weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook dishes according to restaurant standards.
• Maintain hygiene standards in the kitchen.
• Clean and maintain kitchen premises as required.
• Assist Chefs to ensure FIFO and proper dating for QA.
• Keep cooking station stocked before and during peak hours.
• Collaborate with the chef to maintain kitchen organisation.
• Work in an orderly and disciplined manner during shifts.
• Follow the food control plan provided.
• Coordinate with staff to ensure smooth service.
• Provide guidance to junior kitchen staff on prep and plating.
• Be available to work weekends and evenings.

Job description

We are looking for two Cooks to work at The Indian Restaurant Limited in Auckland.

Indian Cook is expected to work a minimum of 30-35 hours a week with a weekly payroll. Hours are rostered on a weekly basis and might include weekend shifts.

Pay Rate: $25.00- $ 28 per hour.

Positions: 2x Cooks

• 1. Preparing and cooking dishes according to restaurant standards.
• 2. Maintaining hygiene standards.
• 3. Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen premises according to the restaurant's standard.
• 4. Assist Chefs to ensure a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verify all food products are properly dated and organised for quality assurance.
• 5. Keep the cooking station stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours.
• 6. Work with the chef to maintain kitchen organisation.
• 7. Work in an orderly and disciplined manner in the kitchen during working hours.
• 8. Follow the food control plan provided.
• 9. Collaborate closely with other staff members.
• 10. Provide guidance to junior kitchen staff members, including food preparation, and dish plating.
• 11. must be available to work during weekends and evenings.

Cook Requirements:

• 1. Preparing authentic Indian cuisine dishes.
• 2. Must be able to design and deliver an Indian food-style menu.
• 3. The applicant must have at least 1 year of experience in Indian cuisine. OR A New Zealand qualification in cookery or cullinary arts at level 4 or above or equivalent is required.
