Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children in Hamilton is seeking an organised administrator to join our team at the Hamilton Youth Justice Site. The role focuses on supporting the team with administrative tasks, data collection, scheduling, and front desk duties, with no remote work.

Qualifications

  • Full clean New Zealand drivers licence is required (historic convictions may be considered on a case-by-case basis).
  • Support the team with all aspects of Health and Safety.
  • Have a strong computer and IT knowledge.
  • Admin skills such as typing, reporting, responding to Site needs.
  • Cultural awareness and an understanding of Tikanga Māori principles.
  • a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Strong time management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to your audience.
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture.

Responsibilities

  • assistance with financial plans, data collection and scheduling
  • Liaise with vendors, casual staff, and other stakeholders
  • Work with various cultural groups and people from different backgrounds
  • Booking rooms, answering phones, and assisting on the reception desk
  • Organising welcomes/whakatau for newcomers and whānau as and when required
  • Deal with critical scenarios in a calm, professional manner

  • Competitive salary ranging from $57,096 to $62,773, depending on experience

Oranga Tamariki offer a step based remuneration package, that offers progression annually for experience through tenure. Annual remuneration for this position starts between $57,096 and $62,773 dependant on experience.
