Job summary

Mercury NZ is seeking a Wind Asset Engineer based in Hamilton, with flexibility to work from home. You will provide technical oversight of wind maintenance and performance, focusing on Balance of Plant equipment, environmental matters, and asset issues, joining a small team with autonomy.

Key activities include monitoring performance, reviewing test reports, leading root-cause analyses, coordinating contractors, and supporting maintenance planning and cost forecasting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical background.
• Experience in asset engineering, maintenance, plant operations or related heavy industry.
• Ability to interpret technical reports, analyze asset performance and resolve complex issues.
• Experience with maintenance management systems and continuous improvement.
• Proven ability to coordinate contractors and liaise with technical teams.
• Clear written and verbal communication with a practical autonomous approach.
• Wind energy knowledge is valuable or transferable experience beyond electrical remit.

Responsibilities

• Monitor asset performance and identify emerging issues, guiding them to resolution.
• Review technical test and inspection reports for Balance of Plant equipment and engage specialists as needed.
• Provide technical oversight of planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
• Support maintenance planning, quality assurance and cost management.
• Lead root cause analyses for significant events and recurring issues.
• Track turbine outages and contribute to production and maintenance expenditure forecasting.
