Job summary

Playcentre Aotearoa is seeking a Centre Coordinator in Wellington for 7 hours per week, starting 12 October 2026. The role collaborates with centre whānau and staff to build adult capability and confidence, enabling leadership in sessions and centre responsibilities within a whānau-led environment.

Key duties include supporting high-quality pedagogy, ensuring Playcentre Philosophy guides sessions, and enriching children’s learning.

Qualifications

• Course 3 of the Playcentre Education Diploma or equivalent ECE Qualification Level 4+
• First Aid certification
• Knowledge of Te Whāriki and ECE regulations
• Understanding Te Tiriti o Waitangi in Playcentre context
• NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa

Responsibilities

• Developing whānau to be the first and best educators for their tamariki through rich, child-led experiences
• Role-modelling and supporting the delivery of high-quality, whānau-led sessions
• Providing advice and support to centre whānau on curriculum, adult education and health and safety
• Ensuring sessions meet regulatory and legislative requirements including Health and Safety obligations
• Recognising Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and promoting Māori cultural values
