Ngāti Porou Oranga in Gisborne seeks a full-time Kaimahi to restore mana, support kaumātua, and enhance wellbeing across the East Coast, guided by Ngāti Porou tikanga and whānau-centred practice. You will travel regionally, work with whānau, hapū, marae and health and social services to provide coordinated, culturally responsive care, including safety planning where risks arise.

This role offers meaningful community-based work in a mobile setting, valuing Te Reo Māori and strong documentation

Formación

• Full New Zealand Driver Licence required due to regional travel.
• Children’s Act and Police Vetting requirement must be met.
• Proven experience with kaumātua/whānau or in social services/health sectors.
• Strong understanding of Ngāti Porou tikanga and Māori models of wellbeing.
• Excellent relationship-building skills and ability to work independently in rural communities.

Responsabilidades

• Advocacy and practical, emotional, and cultural support to kaumātua and kuia while upholding rights, safety and dignity.
• Develop client-led support plans with whānau using a strengths-based approach.
• Engage with marae, health providers, and social services to coordinate care.
• Support safety planning where risks of family violence or elder abuse are identified.
